do you have anything to say about I’ll Sink Manhattan
"Burn your forget-me-nots
Admit that true love can die
No, I won't apologize, my love,
Just kiss me goodbye."
The emotion in this song is intense, gives me chills. Another example of Flans' amazing vocals, they're so raw and powerful here. The softer segments followed by his booming singing voice.. I think the lacking instrumental does a lot here to let the vocals really stand out. I'd love to hear it live someday, since it seems it's in their current rotation.
I think the instruments used too really help convey the emotions, the reversed symbols, the synthesized chorus singing and drums kicking in.. it all adds to the drama.
The phone call at the beginning tying into the fact it's a recorded message, his love didn't answer.
The imagery here.. the symbolism of him telling his love to burn their forget-me-nots, telling them to forget about him, their love, that it's over. It's all over literally as well, especially for his love, since he's sinking the entirety of Manhattan, killing who knows how many people just to get back at them.
I also love the imagery of fire, contrasted with the water- not just from the flood, but his lover's tears
I don't have a lot to say about the reversed clip at the beginning, except that I think it's a bit funny.
