Amok etymology
I found the origin of the word amok. We already know akuma comes from Japanese and is one of the words we translate as demon in our culture.
Amok comes from Malay (amuk, written amuck in English; amok is the French spelling) and means bloody fury, when someone suddenly wants to kill averyone, something close to the original meaning of folly (if it's the same than in French). From what I understood, amok was kind of a possession of someone normally sane and they say this person is victim of the amok as they try to kill as much as possible before killing themselves. To illustrate it with tragedies we are more familiar with, think of a mass shooting when the killer kills themselves at the end or knows that they will be by the authorities. But it can also be seen when the hero walks to the ennemies knowing they won't survive but at least, eliminate a lot of opposants and/or save their companions. Psychology talks about decompensation.
With this description, it looks like more what happens with akuma possession than the sentimonsters when the akuma makes the person to make their vengeance happens. But I guess than being possessed by a demon could also be accurate.
I know the butterfly and peacock miraculous could be used for good but with entity called demon and bloody massacre, it's difficult to imagine it xD But maybe these words just inspired the creators or are just the evil term for those miraculous?
Please, if I made any cultural or psychological mistake, don't hesitate to tell me! It's difficult to find the accurate words in another language...
oh my god
Truth, Lies, Gang of Secrets, Guilt Trip? What the hell that’s all so sad 😭
At least we got one called Queen Banana so maybe that will even the playing field?
