Summary: Mineta apologizes to you after making fun of you in class.
Warnings: Period, anxiety, depression, anger
A/N: Please don’t leave any rude comments about Mineta or me writing for Mineta, your comment will be blocked, and you will be blocked.
Quirk: Gail Force. Your quirk is a mutation of your lungs that lets you hold intense amounts of air for long periods of time, and release it into a powerful gust of wind.
You rolled your eyes as you shifted in your seat. Class was dragging on for what seemed seemed like forever and the hard plastic of your seat was doing nothing to ease your discomfort. Quietly, you slipped your hand into your bag and tried to discreetly retrieve a bottle of Midol from the front pocket. Just as you were about to free the small plastic object, it slipped from your grasp, falling to the ground with a deafening rattle. Suddenly, you'd captured the attention of every pair of eyes in the room, having disturbed the silent study period with your futile attempt at alleviating your pain. Snickers and laughter erupted from the room, cloaking you in embarrassment.
"Miss (L/N), you know private medications aren't allowed in my classroom. If you need something, take it to the office, please." Cementos bellowed, cocking a brow at you before calming the class. Flustered, you stood up, grabbing your bag, along with the bottle.
"Oh, don't worry, I'll go to the office, don't expect me back." you snapped, ignoring his protests. As the rest of the class calmed down, you noticed a small group of boys in the corner, still snickering and carrying on. Turning around, you of course found none other than Kaminari, Bakugou, and Mineta. Considering this was a mixed General Studies class, neither Kirishima, or Sero were there to wrangle them as they usually did. You rolled you eyes and huffed, trying your best to ignore them ignoring them.
"Aw, c'mon, hun, lighten up!" Denki giggled, making light of your plight, catching your attention. "You can talk to me, ya know, if your having a rough time period!"
"Can in, Short Circit. And that goes for both of you too." you snapped, glaring harshly at the trio.
Bakugo smirked before nudging his blonde friend. "You better shut it, Dunce Face, she might try to blow you if you piss her off." His perverted joke made your blood boil as hot, enraged tears began to pool in your eyes. Before turning away to storm out, you screamed one more time at him, not even caring what pathetic excuse of an insult spilled out.
"Fuck off, Bakugo!"
Mineta had stayed quiet through the display of aggression, and for a moment, you had hoped it was because he disapproved of his friends' taunts and wanted to say something. After a moment of conflicted thought, he finally did. "What, are you like on the rag or something?"
At that moment, all your hope in him shattered and you ran from the classroom. Mineta had never treated you the way he did the other girls. For some reason, he'd always been nice to you when he bothered to interact, which was rare. He never jumped at the opportunity to toss some cheesy pick up line at you or look up your skirt. Even during the room tours that your class held at the beginning of the semester, all he did was compliment your choice of décor.
You begrudgingly wept through the hallway, having had to take your medicine in Recovery Girl's office. She guiltily gave you a hot pack and a peck on the forehead, and sent you on your way, excusing you from class for the day. As you reached your dorm, you threw open the door, slamming it behind you, and collapsed on your bed, curling up , clinging to the hot pack for dear life. Sleep soon found you and relieved you of your pain, if only for a bit.
You awoke to a soft knocking at your door. You shouted to the source, telling it to go away, only for the nocking to quicken in tempo. Groaning, you got out of bed and trudged to the door, forcefully swinging it open and letting loose a powerful sigh. To your disgust, Mineta was standing there with a plastic bag in hand. "What do you want?" You spat down at him.
He looked you up and down, his mouth slightly agape. "(L/N), were you asleep?"
"So what?"
His brows furrowed and he looked your disheveled form up and down, at your feet specifically. "You're still wearing your uniform, even your shoes."
"And?" you cocked a brow, crossing your arms. Mineta shook his head, and pulled the bag up.
"Look, I wanted to apologize for what I said, and for what the guys said. I was just trying to fit in...and it was stupid of me to hurt your feelings to look cool. I know it doesn't make up for it, but I went out to the corner store and got you some stuff."
You blushed slightly as he began to ramble, slightly pushing past you, as he tended to when on a tangent. You followed him into your room as he pushed you onto your desk chair. He opened the chair and began pulling items out and explaining them at length.
"I got you some more of that medicine you had in class, I didn't know what you used, so I got you the highest dosage of the named brand, I guess that works best, right?" He set a small bottle on the desk before his hand dove back in. "And I think it has one of those little cotton balls in it to keep it quiet, in case you drop it or something, it won't draw attention."
You began to speak, but he continued on, determined to list his arsenals of gifts before letting you come to a conclusion. "Also, Sero told me that Momo told him that girls like sweets and candy, especially chocolate, but I didn't know what you liked, so I got a few different ones, and some fruity gummies, in case you don't like chocolate. Oh, and I got you some drinks too, some water, and a bottle of juice." Mineta continued to dig through the bag, ignoring your attempts to grab his attention at this point. "What else is there? Oh, I got you some..uh...things but i didn't know what you used, so I got a couple variety packs. Oh, and-"
"Mineta!"
The boy's attention snapped to you, blushing a bit from embarrassment. "W-Wait, I got more-"
"Mineta, that's enough." Your eyes softened a bit. "Thank you."
"You don't wanna see the rest of it? I got you soft lotion for your feet and they didn't have heating pads, so I made you one out of a sock and some beans and-"
You giggled a bit. "Mineta, why did you go out and spend your money on all this?"
He thought for a second, before answering flatly. "Because I like you." His reply caught you be complete surprise. You figured he had just felt guilty.
"You...like me? As in like you have a crush on me?"
"Well, yeah. I guess it's like that. I've always been the type to take what I could get as far as dating went, but when I met you, things changed. The truth is, I don’t really like the type of guy I used to be, always trying to hit on different girls, ya know? I had a talk with Kirishima a while back and it really opened my eyes to how terrible I was being to everyone. It made me realize that I was never gonna get anyone to like me if I didn't change." He sighed, calmly pouring his heart out, leaning against the desk.
"But you didn't change. You're still a perv to all the other girls." You pointed out skeptically. Mineta lowered his head before speaking again.
"It's just an act, though, a facade. I thought that maybe, if I treated you different, you'd figure out that you were special to me...without me having to say it. You make me nervous, (L/N)." You smiled warmly, still confused, but flattered all the same, and decided to let him finish. "I know I didn't go on about it in a very good way, but I want you to know that I really care and if you need anything else, just let me know and I'll run out and get it for you. Again, I'm sorry for embarrassing you in class."
"I forgive you, Mineta. And for the record, it worked, I like you too."
Mineta looked up at you with star struck eyes, in disbelief before cracking an award winning smile. "You really mean that?" You nodded, giggling at his enthusiasm and watched it turn back into anxiety. "Well...uh...do you, maybe wanna go on a date with me sometime?"
"I'd like that, but on one condition." you grinned as he excitedly asked for your favor.

Hello, I have clawed my way out of the abyss to speak to you. So this is a weird one here; a headcanon of Izuku, Mina, Jirou, Mineta, and Bakugo with an s/o who has a Quirk that gives them the abilities of Lunaticks; an Ultraman Ace monster. It gives them the appearance of a white rabbit with red ears and eyes and they move around by hopping around. Their Quirk allows them to launch their eyeballs as explosives, and even though it looks painful, they instantly regrow them. Their s/o tends to have an energetic and bouncy personality. Thank you for your time and I will see you next time when I find my way out of abyss.
Tbh I find it funny that I'm more surprised about Mineta being requested than I am about the shooting your eyes out quirk.
Izuku, Mina, Jiro, Mineta and Bakugo with S/O who has a quirk that allows them to launch their eyes
Reader here is gender neutral and has bunny features
Izuku Midoriya
He asks a lot of questions about your quirk. How do you shoot your eyes? How fast they can grow? Are there limits? Can you make explosions weaker or stronger? If so how? Where do your new eyes come from? When do you stop seeing things?
He thought it was just interesting. And he often tries to connect your bunny features to it.
Does it have a purpose? Or is that mutation just in there for no reason?
He just never can get enough of learning more about you. Perhaps your bouncy personality drives his attention to you so much but his love for you definitely plays part in it too.
Mina Ashido
She knew it didn't hurt you, but she still never stopped being every so slightly worried.
She loves your eyes so seeing you blast them off does send her a bit off.
But hey that means she'll have a fresh pair of eyes to get lost in.
Sorry if it bothers you but she just can't stop touching your bunny ears and gushing over how cute your tail is whenever she gets to see it.
Jiro Kyoka
She was surprised to see your quirk in action... It was a little bit gross after all.
It looked quite painful but she trusted you when you said it didn't hurt. It just made her a little bit too aware of her eyes.
She doesn't ask you any questions about it in the end. She doesn't even know what she'd ask, but she has some questions...
Your hyper personality is close to be the opposite of her so your dynamic sure is interesting.
Minoru Mineta
When he first saw it he freaked out. But when you told him that everything was fine he calmed down slightly.
To calm himself he usually tells himself that your quirks aren't that different. He takes a part of himself and throws it too right?
It's a bit gross to him even after he got used to it. But he doesn't say that out loud.
He just is overjoyed to date someone as cool as you, so of course he won't focus on what he doesn't like.
He loves your bunny features. Definitely the tail is his favorite. It's right above your cute butt after all.
Bakugo Katsuki
When he first saw it he didn't question it. After all you had it for quite a while so if your eyes falling out was a bad thing you'd probably be the one freaking out.
He doesn't care much about your quirk. It's just explosions with extra steps at the end of the day.
Your hyper and bouncy personality annoyed him greatly when you first met but now he's used to it.
He may not admit it but your bunny features are adorable... But it also gives an opportunity for nicknames. So don't think you can avoid it dust bunny.
characters included : light, l, misa, near, minoru, mikami.
- "Uhm.. Light.."
- Slightly annoyed by the fact that you had just disturbed his train of thoughts, he looked up and asked noncommittally, "What?"
- "There's a spider.. in your bathroom.. And I gotta pee.."
- Hells, what? He hastily strode towards the bathroom, stopping and internally panicking once he saw how humongous it was. Several gangly legs... Eugh. Spiders had always disturbed him.
- But he had to do it. Just think, what could possibly be lamer than the god of the new world being terrified of spiders? That would tarnish his reputation. No kidding.
- Light took the broom from the side and carefully shooed the spider off the walls while you slouched behind him and held his shoulders, screaming everytime the creature got near you.
- Some time later, you lost sight of the spider.
- "[Y/N], where is it?"
- "I don't kn -- oh my gosh!!!"
- "What is it?"
- "It's on your head!"
- What the fu -- okay, calm down, Light. You can do this. You've killed plenty of the bad guys before. This is merely a spider.
- '[Y/N].. The predicament you put me into... I swear you will not get away with this.'
- He's utterly spooked, but he was still preserving his image, so it took quite a while to get the abomination off himself. He looked like he just finished an intense tennis match by then.
- "Thanks.. Light."
- "Huh? Yeah."
- Some time later...
- Was that spiders written on top of a page in the death note? Ryuk cackled. He wondered if he could blackmail Light using that to give him more apples...
- "Ryuzaki! You gotta see this, please!"
- "This better be important for me to be disturbed in the middle of a case."
- You took him in front of the comfort room and pointed at the door. He saw no significance in there and decided to walk away. You immediately pulled him back and pointed at the door again.
- "What? You want me to watch as you take a dump?"
- "No! Look, there's a spider!"
- "I am aware. What? It's just a spider. It's not gonna kill you."
- "I need you to get rid of it!"
- L almost rolled his eyes, looking very uninterested in helping you.
- "Okay fine! I'll give you whatever sweets you want if you get rid of it for me."
- Okay, that seemed fair. Besides...
- He sauntered closer to the door and lifted his arms. The lanky creature crawled on him. He looked okay with it. Too okay.
- For the sake of his own entertainment, also because he disliked you disturbing him, he raised the arm with the spider on it towards you. You hastily went in the comfort room and shut the door on his face.
- He kept that spider for future uses.
- Uh-oh. There was a spider. You needed someone to get rid of it, but the only one around was your girlfriend, who's just as arachnophobic as you are.
- You just vacantly stared at the bathroom door and waited for the spider to miraculously disappear.
- Eventually, Misa showed up because she needed to take a shower.
- "[Y/N]? What are you doing? Are you gonna use the bathroom?"
- "Yes.. But.." You pointed to the abomination lurking near the doorknob. Misa squealed and hid behind you.
- "Kyahh! Get rid of it!"
- "Me?! Get rid of it?! No, you do it!"
- "But I'm scared!"
- "So am I!"
- After a long moment of silence, you sighed and suggested, "Let's just get rid of it together. Get the brooms."
- Misa looked even more spooked, but she didn't have much of a choice. The spider wasn't gonna get rid of itself. She took two long brooms and you both began to sweep the eight-legged creature away in a careful distance.
- There was so much noise and everything had eventually become chaotic.
- "AHH! IT'S CRAWLING TOWARDS ME! [Y/N]!!!"
- You screamed yourself as you began sweeping it away from her, but the little shit decided to crawl on your broom instead. You immediately dropped it and scrammed out of the house. Misa followed, also screaming. The neighbors were greatly alarmed.
- "Near... I need your help.."
- "What's the matter?" He said, attention fixed solely on the cards that he was stacking.
- "There's a spider in the bathroom..."
- "What of it?" He asked noncommittally, though he already knew what you were going to say.
- "I need you to get rid of it. Please."
- You feverishly walked to and front. You couldn't hold back any longer. Near looked like he'd rather eat glass, but okay. He wasn't that heartless.
- "Stephen." He called urgently. The latter sauntered towards him and asked what the matter was.
- "There's a spider in the bathroom. Please get rid of it quickly. [Y/N] is about to explode."
- Stephen headed straight to the bathroom, followed by you, and grabbed the spider to relocate it elsewhere. Finally, time for you to break free.
- "Minoru. Help me." You texted your boyfriend. He asked what the matter was but you did not elaborate and only told him to come to your house asap.
- He was worried upon seeing your panic-stricken face. He thought of the worse case scenarios -- and then you took him to the bathroom where a huge spider was stuck on the ceiling.
- He so regretted coming.
- "Oi oi oi! Where do you think you're going?"
- "Back home? No thanks, I don't like spiders."
- "Neither do I!"
- "Then why should I be the one to get rid of it?"
- "Because no one else is home and I've been holding my dump for thirty minutes. You gotta help me!"
- His face fell. He didn't have much of choice, he was there anyway, so he sighed and picked up a broom. In a safe distance, he very gently shooed the spider away lest it falls on his hair.
- There were lots of unnecessary squeaks.
- Thank goodness, the spider had finally fallen. Exactly in the open toilet. Just as planned. Minoru didn't think twice of flushing it.
- You really didn't want to bother your busy boyfriend, but you had enough. You've been seeing the same spider for lurking inside the house for weeks now. Teru gave it no heed as it grew bigger. Then it got into your room. That took the last straw.
- "It's only a spider [Y/N]. It's not like it's gonna kill you."
- "You don't understand. The way that thing moves its leg is enough to give me heart attack! I can't sleep knowing that thing might crawl on my face as it pleases. It's so creepy! Why does it even look like that? Get rid of it, please."
- Well that was mean. Teru clicked his tongue. No point of trying to convince you that it's harmless. He sighed and took a chair, standing on it to get the spider which then crawled on his arm. He looked far too calm in your opinion. You backed away from him.
- He opened the windows and set the creature free, immediately closing it afterwards. Though he was pretty sure that it would come back sooner or later.

After spinning the bottle you sat down and waited. Everyone seemed far too giddy to be playing; not in the least, you. The game had too many chances to kiss one of your hotter classmates so the swell of excitement in your chest was understandable.
Really, the only person you didn’t want the bottle to land on was Mineta. He was a pint-sized creep and the idea of him coming anywhere near you with those lips was downright shiver-inducing.
When the bottle came to a stop, so did your excitement.
Oh no.
No. No, no, no, no, no.
Not him.
Mineta’s face broke into a twisted grin, realising that the bottle was pointing at him. He caught your gaze and licked his lips, and you found yourself wanting the floor to swallow you whole. It didn’t help that some of your classmates were jeering. The vast majority of them had the decency to shut up and look concerned, but the likes of Kaminari and Sero found the situation hilarious. You were going to string them up by their shoe laces later.
“Are you okay?” Uraraka asked from beside you, knowing you couldn’t respond with anything positive. “You don’t look well.”
“I don’t feel well.” You agreed, watching as Mineta got to his feet. Well, it was only one kiss, right? You could do it. You would never speak of it again, but you could manage one kiss. But oh if he tried any funny business you were not going to be held accountable for your—
Because the room was quiet, save for the sounds of Kaminari and Sero jeering, you heard a noise in the stairwell as someone landed on the creaky bottom step. For a second you thought it might be the villain who had the whole of U.A. in lockdown, but then Ashido squealed in delight as you saw a shock of purple hair.
“Oh, you’re awake!” She said, addressing the newcomer as he emerged from the stairwell. Gosh, you had forgotten he was even here. It was Hitoshi Shinsou, the newest member of Class 1A, who honestly looked like he had just woken up and definitely not of his own accord.
“How can I sleep when you’re all making such a racket?” He grumbled. Ashido stuck her tongue out with a guilty chuckle, but Tokoyami was the one to speak.
“I thought you said participation wasn’t an option?” He stared Ashido down. “Then why has Shinsou escaped this abomination of a game?”
“Abomination?” Ashido scoffed, hardly intimidated by Tokoyami’s sour attitude. “I was trying to be nice and let the new guy sleep. But,” she said as a glint of evil flickered through her eyes. Then she rounded on your new classmate. “Since you’re up…”
You felt sorry for Shinsou. He didn’t see it coming, or was too half-asleep to react when Ashido sprang up from her place and bounded over to him, gripping him by the shoulders before he could turn tail and run.
“What a great way to get to know you!” She said with a delighted smile. The look of fear flashed across his face but he was no match for Ashido as she dragged him towards the circle.
Just great, you thought, another set of eyes to watch your humiliation at the hands of Mineta.
However, once Ashido forced Shinsou into place between her and Satou, she plucked the bottle from the middle of the circle then passed you a sly wink -- impossible for Mineta to see. Then, louder, to make sure he heard, she said,
“And because we all want Shinsou to feel included, he’s going first.”
You tried to stop your jaw falling open. Mineta barked,
“Hey, what’s the big idea?”
Ashido waved off his complaint with an airy hand.
“Oh, hush. It’s only the first go. I’m sure there’ll be chance for you to kiss someone later.”
Mineta opened his mouth to raise hell, but Sero pulled him back into his seat with a grin, finding the whole thing hilarious.
You managed to stop yourself launching at Ashido in a grateful hug. She had rescued you from the grim clutches of Mineta. Honestly, you were surprised he was even allowed to play. Sure, Ashido wanted everyone to take part, but even then there had to be a limit, right?
After making a mental note to buy her a chocolate bar later, you resumed your comfortable position in the circle as Ashido handed the bottle to Shinsou. He was decidedly more awake now and looked rather surprised to have been handed such an item. He looked about then looked hopefully to the stairs, but Ashido was a very large block in his path.
“Come on, new guy.” She encouraged with her infectious smile. It was disarming to the strongest-hearted of people. Ashido was a force to be reckoned with even without her full Hero licence.
Seeing that he had absolutely no way of escaping, Shinsou put the bottle down then gave it a fast spin. Now that he was playing, whether coerced or not, Ashido looked at you across the circle.
“Sorry. Hope you don’t mind Shinny stealing your turn.”
You shook your head with an all-too-relieved smile.
“No. Honestly, that’s okay. Maybe next time, huh, Mineta?” You flashed him a cocky grin, gloating that you had escaped from him unscathed. Mineta stuck his middle finger up in a sulk. You chuckled dryly then looked towards the spinning bottle, but felt someone’s gaze on you. You were shocked to find it was Shinsou.
As soon as your eyes connected, he averted his gaze like a guilty kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar. You pursed your lips, wondering what he was really like. He was still a mystery. So far, with Shinsou only having joined your class recently, you hadn’t had much time to get to know him. He was quiet but a hard worker or he never would have made it onto the Heroes course. He was also rather attractive, if you said so yourself, and you had thought that about him ever since the Sports Festival. If anything, he had only gotten hotter.
You only realised the bottle had stopped spinning when you felt not one, but at least a dozen sets of eyes on you.
“Hm?” You asked, unable to connect the dots for the first moment or two. Ashido keyed you in, catching your bewildered expression.
“Oh, guess you’re not missing out after all. What were the chances?”
The bottle was pointing at you.
You pressed your lips together to hold down a grin. Was this the universe’s way of saying sorry for nearly pushing Mineta onto you? Most likely. What a way to get to know Mister Quiet and Handsome.
Shinsou got to his feet, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. He was making it his mission to look absolutely anywhere but at you. You thought it was sweet that he was nervous; it made you feel better about the butterflies in your own stomach.
You got up and joined him in the middle. When you were practically standing on his toes, he found the strength to look at you. You smiled.
“Hi.” You said.
“Hey.” He replied in a sinfully deep voice that only made your butterflies worse.
“Sorry you’ve been roped into this. But just know you saved me from a fate worse than you can imagine, so thank you for that.”
He chuckled, his eyes filling with a warmth that was hard not to find inviting.
“You’re welcome.”
You lost your voice for a moment. You opened and closed your mouth but all sense and reason were gone as you stared at his gentle face. He was like a tired-eyed Prince Charming. Catching your dumbfounded expression, Shinsou cleared his throat and nodded, stepping into you. Your butterflies built. He came closer and you felt your cheeks prickle with heat. Hell, he was even more handsome up close.
You were about to close your eyes and enjoy the moment, only when he was a breath away from you he mumbled,
“Hey, umm…”
“Hm?” You replied, wondering if something was wrong. Then you felt your body still. It was not unpleasant. You felt warm. But you lost control of yourself and a steady humming grew in your ears. You realised what was going on when Shinsou murmured in a low voice, quiet enough so that only you could hear him,
“Just a peck on the cheek, okay?”
To your surprise, your body moved of its own accord. Shinsou stayed where he was, his focus solely on you as you leaned into him, placing a single kiss to his cheek. What a shame. You had hoped to kiss him properly. Instead, he was Brainwashing you. You heard him hum as your lips touch his skin, and the strength of his Quirk wavered, like he was distracted by it, but then when you pulled back he gave a soft smile and nodded, then you felt the control revert back to you.
When the buzzing in your ears vanished, you realised the others in the circle were clapping, but you didn’t pay them much mind. You could only look at Shinsou, wondering what had happened. He could see you had questions but he gave you another soft smile, nodded then turned and walked away. You would have stayed there, watching him as you flexed your hands to make sure you were back in control, but soon enough the others told you to budge so they could play the next round.
You went back to your seat and Uraraka must have spotted the concern on your face because she asked if everything was alright.
“Yeah…” you said, not entirely sure you were telling the truth. “I’m… fine.”
You looked across the circle at Shinsou. He was far more casual about the whole thing than you appreciated. There was still a strange tingle in your body; a trace of his Quirk that didn’t seem to want to go away even though you were back in control.
Ashido excused you from the circle, afraid that the bottle might land on you for a third time in a row. You were glad for the excuse to leave. You passed one more glance to Shinsou then decided to go up to your room. You needed to lie down.
O
For twenty minutes you got away with hiding; lounging on your bed with your arm over your eyes. It was more than you could hope for with Ashido insisting that everyone play Spin the Bottle. But honestly you didn’t fancy playing any more. Not after that. The combination of dread from nearly kissing Mineta, and the confusion of being Quirked into kissing Shinsou on the cheek made you think the game was bad luck for you. You were better off without it.
But all the same, after twenty minutes of pondering why Shinsou had controlled the kiss, there was a knock at your door. You answered it, steeling yourself for the moment Ashido strong-armed you back downstairs, but to your surprise and relief it was Uraraka asking for you.
“Hi,” she said with a wave as soon as you opened the door. She looked more docile than normal; giving you a caring smile as she looked you up and down. “Mina wants you to come back downstairs but I said I’d come get you. You didn’t look too great earlier. Are you okay?”
It was so nice of her to save you from Ashido’s wrath. You didn’t want to explain what had happened between you and Shinsou, though. In case there was a reasonable explanation for what he did, you weren’t willing to paint him in a bad light yet. It wouldn’t be fair when he was trying to settle in with everyone, so instead you told a white lie. You said you didn’t feel well and wanted to stay in your room.
“Tell Mina I’m sorry.” You added, hoping it would soften the blow. Uraraka nodded with her bright-as-a-button smile then told you not to worry.
“I hope you feel better soon.” She said, then warned you to lock your door in case Ashido came up to drag you back to the game, then she headed downstairs. Taking Uraraka’s advice, when you closed the door you bolted it too, then swapped into your pyjamas since you had officially retired for the night.
You crawled back onto your bed then pulled out a good book to read, only you could not concentrate enough to read it. You tried, you really did. But Shinsou ran through your mind instead. You thought up every wild possibility you could for why he had used Brainwash on you. The worst theory was that he saw you in the same way you saw Mineta. Oh God, had he been disgusted at the thought of you kissing him? Had he stopped you from kissing his lips to save himself from nightmares?
You groaned gloomily, dropping the unread book on the floor. You were thinking about it too much. You knew you were. There had to be an actual reason, and hopefully it was something much nicer than what you were imagining.
What bothered you most was how he had used his Quirk on you only seconds after you had decided to get to know him. Okay, your tongue down his throat might not have been the best introduction but it would have made for a great ice-breaker. And instead it felt like he had put up even more walls between you.
It hadn’t been five minutes since Uraraka left but just as you debated getting an early night, there was another knock at your door. You looked at the handle, wondering who it could be. Surely not Ashido or she would have tried barging in already. The door was locked so you could very easily ignore them if you wanted to.
But after a brief pause you heard a voice.
“Hey, ____. Uhh… It’s Shinsou. Can you open the door?” Another pause. “Please.”
You got off the bed. As it was highly unlikely that Ashido would deploy him as a trap to get you back downstairs, you did as he asked. You wanted to talk to him anyway. As soon as he cleared up his actions, the better.
You opened the door. There he was, just as handsome as before, but looking rather more troubled than the last time you saw him.
“Shinsou?” You asked, rather surprised to find him in front of you. As soon as he saw you, he raised a hand to the back of his neck and rubbed it nervously, his gaze flitting back and forth towards you while the concern remained on his face.
“Hey. Uh. I wanted to talk to you. Umm. Actually,” He looked over his shoulder warily. “You might want to let me in first. Pink-Hair was about to come and grapple you back into the game as I was leaving. Just a thought.”
You stepped aside, knowing Ashido would be doubly invested in getting you back downstairs if Shinsou was missing too. After letting him into your room, you closed the door and bolted it, then turned and pressed your back against the wood. It was hard to ignore the way your heart did funny leaps at the thought of Shinsou being in your room with the door locked.
Now was not the time for fantasies. You wanted answers.
But before you could ask anything, Shinsou started talking.
“Round-Face said you weren’t feeling well. Is that because I—were you feeling ill before the game or… did you get sick after I used my Quirk?”
It was hard not to hear the concern in his voice. Not only was he worried about you, he was worried enough to come check on you. Your doubts about him eased, and you felt your body relax.
“I’ll be honest,” you said, feeling it wasn’t right to keep up the charade if it was going to bother him so much, “I’m alright. I told Ochako I wasn’t well so I wouldn’t have to play the game.”
“Oh?” He asked, raising an inquisitive eyebrow.
“Yeah.” You rubbed your arm, feeling nerves hit you as you admitted your feelings. “I didn’t fancy another round… after what happened.”
For a moment, everything stayed quiet. Shinsou watched you with his tired-looking eyes, and all you could do was look back, waiting for him to react, wondering how he would react. He gave a deep sigh, blowing a puff of air through his nostrils as his hand wandered up into the back of his hair again.
“I’m sorry.” He said, finally. “I wasn’t trying to spoil your game.”
You accepted the sincerity of his apology – the guilt was written all over his face -- but it still didn’t answer the most important question: why did he do it?
Hoping to pick his brain now that you had him alone, you pushed away from the door then sat on your bed, offering him a place at the opposite end. You waited for him to put up a fight – for him to say he wanted to leave or that he had places to be. He looked at the spot beside you like he expected it to set on fire, but after a moment’s hesitation he sat down, choosing a closer spot than you had anticipated.
You weren’t complaining but it took a moment for you to string a coherent sentence together after noticing his strong jawline from up close.
“I—umm. Yeah. So.” Knowing you were coming off as an idiot, you shook your head then looked at your bedding to concentrate. “Why did you use your Quirk on me?”
You dared to look up so you could gauge his reaction but weren’t prepared to see how cute he looked with a hint of pink in his cheeks.
“Do I have to answer that?” He asked, dropping his gaze.
“Yes.” You said, adding with a soft laugh, “Don’t I deserve an explanation?”
He clenched and flexed his hands. You could see the internal debate etched across his face. Then he sucked in his breath and nodded.
“You’re right. It was a dick move. Guess I should own up.” He closed his eyes then opened them and looked at you properly. You bit your lip, suddenly caught in the hypnotic beauty of his violet irises. “I used Brainwash on you so I knew exactly what you were going to do in the kiss.”
Oh. That actually made a lot of sense. He was trying to settle in with everyone. If you were in his situation, you wouldn’t want to make a faux pas either.
But his next words turned your face warm.
“If I only let you kiss me on the cheek, I couldn’t be disappointed if you didn’t want to go any deeper of your own accord.”
“Wh—I—” the words wouldn’t form properly as you tried to process what he had said. By the sounds of it, and you were truly hoping you hadn’t got this wrong, he had wanted you to kiss him. What was more, he could have forced you into a full on kiss – getting what he wanted – but had been considerate enough to hold back and have you kiss his cheek.
If only he knew how much you had wanted to kiss him.
If only he knew how much you wanted to kiss him now.
“Honestly,” you said with a chuckle, downplaying the excitement in the pit of your stomach. “You didn’t need to go that far.”
You caught the shame on his face but he offered you a smile all the same.
A stillness fell over the room. You weren’t sure how Shinsou truly, honestly felt but if there was ever a time to test the waters, it was now.
“I think,” you said, doing your best to hold your composure as a blush threatened to give away your feelings, “you owe me a kiss. For messing up the game. One kiss, then I’ll forget you used your Quirk on me. Deal?”
Shinsou continued to look at you, but it looked like something in him had stopped – like a processor had short-circuited. But he blinked, and he coughed, then his hand ran into his hair again.
“If that’s what you want…”
You couldn’t halt the blush this time. You knew he could see it. It made it easier, the way he smiled when he spotted it.
“Now?” He asked, and though you were surprised by how quickly he responded, you nodded and smiled, looking to the bedsheet shyly.
Shinsou shuffled towards you. You closed your eyes, feeling your cheeks threatening to burn your face if you kept them open to watch what he was doing. You held them closed and waited. And waited. Then his fingers stroked the underside of your chin, tilting your face towards him.
“Are you sure?” He asked, so close that his breath fanned your cheeks.
“Mhmm.” You murmured, loving the gentleness of his touch as he leaned in, the bed creaking beneath his weight as he drew closer to you. Then his lips feathered over your cheek – so delightfully sweet that it made you tremble.
But ever the gentleman, Shinsou lingered the kiss for as long as he dared, long enough for you to feel him breathe a satisfied sigh against you skin, then he pulled away. But his lips had felt just right. You couldn’t stop yourself following him, planting a shy kiss at the corner of his mouth before you caught yourself, then pulled back and pursed your lips, nervous for his reaction.
His tired eyes were wide, focused on you while his body went rigid with shock. There was a question on his face, one that he did not have to ask for you to hear, especially when his gaze flickered down to your lips.
“If you want to,” you muttered, biting your bottom lip shyly, “I promise I won’t pull away.”
He stayed still and you wondered if you had read the situation right. Were you making a fool of yourself for thinking he might be as interested in you as you were in him?
But any doubt you still had melted away when he leaned in and stroked a hand into your hair, guiding you the last inch or so towards him so he could claim your lips in his.
You whimpered happily when he kissed you. There was so much more behind this kiss than when he had pecked your cheek – it was intimate and gentle, but there was a hunger as he pushed his lips to yours, a want to feel you, to hold you as his hand ran further into your hair and his other found your hand on the bed, quickly intertwining his fingers with yours when you let him.
You broke apart to catch your breath so he kissed you on the tip of your nose. It was such a sweet action that you quickly found yourself blushing again. When you looked at him, he seemed much more composed but his eyes were still on your lips as he caught his breath.
Then, finally, he said,
“This might be a little late to mention, but you seem pretty great, and I want to get to know you ____.”
You smiled and laughed, squeezing his hand to tell him that yes, maybe it was slightly late to bring that up, but you wholeheartedly agreed with him.
“I want to get to know you too, Shinsou.” You said, then paused. “Just no more Brainwashing. If you want to kiss me, just kiss me.”
He coughed awkwardly but nodded, rather preferring the idea of kissing you for real instead of coercing you. The guilt of what he did downstairs slipped onto his face. It was hard to miss when he looked like a kicked puppy.
You squeezed his hand reassuringly.
“Hey,” you said, nudging your head towards your TV with a kind smile. “Since we want to get to know each other, how about I start by showing you my favourite movie?”
“Now?” He asked, but you noticed how the tension eased off his face.
“If you’re up for it.” You said, shimmying to the top of your bed to get comfortable. With a nod and a gentle smile, he followed you then rested his back against the headboard as you reached for the TV remote.
Once the movie was playing, you relaxed and made yourself comfortable, and for a while you sat in contented silence. You kept an eye on Shinsou, enjoying how he seemed rather into the film. It was nice sitting beside him, you had to admit. His body gave off an inviting warmth and he smelled like a type of incense you couldn’t quite put your finger on, but one that lulled you until you were completely relaxed and yawning, then without thinking you rested your head against his shoulder. It was only after you yawned again that you realised what you were doing.
“Oh, sorry.” You went to sit up but Shinsou slipped his arm around your shoulders to hold you still and chuckled.
“Don’t be. It’s alright. I enjoyed that.”
He shuffled over to help you get more comfortable then once you were snug, he leaned his head against yours, and you were only glad your face was nestled below his to hide your smile.
Neither you nor Shinsou made it to the end of the movie. By the time the credits had rolled, the two of you were fast asleep, tangled in each other’s embrace and completely oblivious to the game of Spin the Bottle still being played in the common room.
— i feel like the best friends to lovers type of romance would suit him very well so let's assume that's the case with you two ;)
— he usually walks you home after school but before that you two might take languid strolls at a nearby park or just the streets
— you hold hands most of the time. or if not, he mostly likely is putting an arm over your shoulder
— he's fine with pda but rarely does it because he's lowkey scared that some of his friends might see and tease him for it for the rest of his life
— sometimes you'll share earphones and listen to music—but it often ends up in a disaster because you two always fight for what song should be played
— his hoodies are your hoodies
— he's actually a sweetie, but don't let him fool you because he can be quite devious
— he can AND will prank you at moments you least expect it
— and he'll scurry far away from you before you could even yell and jab him
— he'll bring it up some time later and more than once just to tease you
— i'm not saying he's the type who throws eggs on you on your birthday but-
— matching icons and headers on twitter!!! (or in any social media you use)
— and when you're on a date at a restaurant or some place where the background looks nice, he'll request you take a photo of him and afterwards he'll do the same to you and then a photo of you two together
— he puts those pics on his instagram account (which, by the way, is the definition of aesthetic)
— minoru's definitely up to doing those cute couple tiktok trends with you!!
— protective boyfriend check ✔️
— tries to avoid a fight as much as he could but when someone has really done it—and if he's in a bad mood to begin with—he won't hesitate in punching the hell out of those peeps
— if you have trouble understanding lessons, he's more than happy to tutor you—just not if it's english subject. and if you excel in that, you'll be the one tutoring him
— sometimes though—actually no— he ALWAYS gets lazy studying and just lie there on his bed
— you will either scold him or join him in idling around if you're just as lazy as he is
— you might fail the exam, but at least you fail together 😔
— you've grown pretty close with his family over the years so you're not too shy when he invites you to come over his house
— netflix and chill? oHOHOHO DEFINITELY
— and while you're watching his mom will be more than happy to cook something for you
— minoru's sort of a mama's boy and you think it's so cute but he whines otherwise
— halfway through the movie he just yawns and rests his head on your shoulder and you end up cuddling
— who cares about the movie anyway
— same as you, he's really close with your family already that sometimes he'll act as though your house is his house. your fam certainly doesn't mind. they will always say that min is perfect for you
— AND HE IS
— he'd eventually ask you to marry him after graduating highschool and college <33
