Ok discussing doordash(?) duo in HHrzn! Formatted Mino - Airo - Intertwined yap

Mino is a idiot dumb loser, he’s a complicated mix of a lot of personalities. He’s both someone with a form of savior complex, wanting to save people (IE Tippss) who he doesn’t know after first meeting. And places a lot of trust in them, but also moves out of his own selfish desires. Instead of acting in any form of rationality Mino jumps to conclusions and uses those conclusions as excuses to act. Think of Boomie and Evo, when Evo kills Boomie instead of slowing down to think of what this actually means. He instead focuses on the fact Evo got the kill and not him, and how he’s unsatisfied with that. But he isn’t like fully irrational, during this moment with Evo and Boomie he fully acknowledges the fact he SHOULD be satisfied. But he doesn’t let those small rational moments actually grow into something bigger. Instead he kinda shuts them down and moves forward with the fixated conclusion that he must be right to live his life.

Airo on the other hand is also a dumb idiot, but not really a loser. He’s a personality that hides information from Mino so much. He carries himself in a sketchy way (IE the entire “training” video) because that’s what he seems to be used to. Because of his odd past with his occupation, and seemingly being one of the older members of the server. Airo is experienced in the lying and manipulative aspects of Heartless Horizon, and came to the conclusion that keeping his full plans or intentions hiddened behind sweetened words and deflection is easier. That also goes with how he places his emotional care, for a long while at the start of Mino and Airo adventures it didn’t feel like Airo completely cared for Mino. I think a part of that is because Airo viewed Mino more as a way to get the sherds and also easily avoid any questions.

Which worked and didn’t work in Airo’s favor. Airo not fully trusting Mino with whatever was occouring at the time meant Mino just kept getting dragged into the bottomless sea. And he obviously didn’t like that, but also didn’t really have the back bone to really confront Airo, so Airo just continued to half care for Mino but mostly saw him as a way to finish old buisness. But along the way Airo DID start to care to some extent, looking back when Airo gave Mino the two maces and the elytra back is honestly the first clear sign of him actually caring. Because he didn’t need to do that, they were both going to this fight against Tippss. And Mino already had three sherds, so giving him even more valuable things could just be a risk. But Airo saw giving these weapons as means of protection, ways that if Airo himself couldn’t protect Mino he could at least protect himelf.

And then Napa appears, someone who makes irreversible changes in the twos friendship. Mino sees someone fragile and vulnerable and places an image of a victim onto him because that is what he’s told. While Airo continues to be secretive and refusing to tell Mino full details when its absolutely needed. Airo being so secretive and letting Mino kinda drown in a dark ocean of the unknown, makes the Naparizel appearance so much worse. Because Mino just wants answers, he NEEDS answers but just isn’t given them when he continues to ask.

Mino is kinda spiteful but also longing is kinda what I learned. He knowingly hangs out with like the one person Airo has shown such DISDAIN for, but even so he can’t help but think about Airo. After that inital argument, when Airo saves Mino from Tippss and Extra there was the moment tha Mino called Airo his savior. And Airo responded something along the lines of “oh now I’m your savior?” I think it goes to show that Airo genuinely believes his actions are saving Mino. Or sparing him from some kind of pain, although him hiding secrets eventually leads to Mino just being hurt even more. To some of his own fault, as even after hearing Airo speak he didn’t believe him.

The entire section of the two being seperated after Napa gets revived is also super intresting to me. Mino didn’t go back to Airo, while yeah he had some thought about what happened and regret he didn’t listen to Airo. He didn’t think to find him, to talk it out, to see if the two could plan and once again take down Napa. And Airo stayed at the desert empire, broken and in shambles although still the home he and Mino built. Thinking that Mino was in some kind of danger, kidnapped or dead by the hands of Napa. Mino was focused on finding Dade, he overlooked the fact Airo was still alive and probably waiting for him to come back.

I think there’s also something to be said with Airo thinking Mino was kidnapped and that he wanted to save Mino. Airo kinda thinks Mino as someone he should take care of, mainly because he’s stupid. But also because Mino does(did?) trust Airo with his life, so when something goes wrong or is about to go bad Airo has some kind of responsibility. While Mino on the other hand doesn’t really percieve himself as someone who needs help, mainly because he thought himself to be secure in his infiltration (even though he wasn’t). I do see Mino to be somewhat dependent on what Airo does or thinks, maybe out of respect for Airo being Airo. Or maybe for some other reason I can’t really think about right now-

But when Airo dies to the witherstorm, that like minute of dissociation by Mino was GUTWRENCHING. Like, I didn’t sign up for this hello? Mino lost Airo due to the fact he was negligent and gullible, he listened to Napa and ruined the thing Airo tried so hard to prevent. I think apart of Mino knows that, the fact during the pre-witherstorm spawn during the Airo and Napa dialogue. Mino kept glancing at Airo, and when Napa offically spawned it Mino’s first instinct was to look at Airo. Apart of Mino probably knows that he IS the reason the server almost got torn apart, and that Airo tried SO HARD to yell at Mino to get away before it started and he just didn’t listen.

Make the reaction to Airo’s death even worse imo. He’s mourning not someone actually dead, but mourning the fact someone who tried to stop him lost a life because he turned a blind eye to the blatant truth. And stopped caring about anything after, Mino was so willing to die after Airo lost his life. Uncaring for anything else, he places such a high regard to what happens to Airo it physically and mentally affects his own actions and morals. The server he cared so much about— enough to attack Airo when he thought Airo would try to destroy it. Suddenly became nothing to him when Airo died. I think that’s poetic!

TLDR: Mino places a high regard on what Airo does and thinks, enough to change his own perspective. But he also treasured strangers highly because he thinks he can help them, so he’s also critical to those he’s closest with as he expects them to do the same. While Airo is experienced in the servers darkest moments, so he wishes to do some kind of protection about the manipulation. So he lies and tells half truths to try and keep Mino to snoop around. But he disregards the fact Mino would rather know the ugly truth than the pretty lies, because if he knew the ugly truth then everything that happened could’ve been prevented to some degree.

For context, this is my first time watching this series, and I’m only viewing it from one perspective which is Mino’s! And. I have thoughts. This is my perspective on his character after episode 1 & 2. So everything said from me is ONLY from watching those two videos.

Boy does he piss me off. Mino so far is like pleasantly annoying to watch yknow? How he thinks is really dumb in my outside opinion, an a lot of it surrounds his empire and seemingly his desire for credit. What I essentially mean is near the end of the episode when Evourai randomly appears and gets the final kill on Boomie! BUT instead of being pleased that the guy who kicked him out of his own empire is gone, he’s upset that he wasnt the one to get the final kill. Which I should point out is also nuanced, because Mino himself points out in his video about how he knows he SHOULD be satisfied but isn’t.

I can both understand this point of view, but ALSO critique him heavily on this thought procress. Firstly the criticism, the fact Mino is so unwilling to feel satisfied about Boomie dying to anyone but himself just like gives me some alarms. With how Mino has portrayed Boomie so far, I assumed that no matter how he would die Mino would be satisfied with it as long as he could go back to how he originally lived. It gives off vibes of not caring much about the actual wrongs Boomie has done but instead chasing the credit that would be gained from removing the biggest threat in view.

Which is obviously quite selfish, now I’m not saying Mino has to be selfless. And only want to remove Boomie because of the overall harm he has done. No, not at all! Instead I do like to fact Mino is biased. The fact he wants to be the one to kill Boomie shows the fact he wishes to solve his own problems. It shows that he is focusing on himself, and wants what he thinks is best for him and the people closest to him. But that’s also so incredibly skewed.

Especially since right after Boomie dies, Mino goes on just a whole arc trying to kill Evourai. Why? Because of some weird fixation on how Boomie was “his rival” and Evourai killed him, so now Evourai is his “rival”? But like, this thought process confuses me a lot. Boomie never really was a rival to Mino, instead Boomie was just a straight up HORRID person to Mino. And so focusing so hard on the person who actually was the final bringer of justice, because he hates him for doing it before him?? Enough to like “hire”(?still have to find out what this is about) Airo as an assassin and lie straight to Evourai’s face, saying that he’d “protect him” and “help him” fight

WHICH IS ANOTHER MAJOR FLAW IN MINO’S THINKING. Tell me HOW, does Mino see the person who is a KNOWN Boomie close ex-bodyguard try to kill Evourai. And not stop to think, “man maybe I’m targeting the wrong person? And instead of trying to kill the person who killed the person who kicked me out of my house. I should help him, and kill the people trying to get justice for said person who kicked me out of my house!”

But like no I guess? And it’s so obvious how much missing context Mino has in this section. When Evourai bans Q and Sorhin the words that come out of Mino’s mouth are, “for some reason” MAN IDK MINO MAYBE THINK ABOUT THE FACT THOSE TWO WERE LIKE TRYING TO KILL EVOURAI FOR HOURS BC HE KILLED BOOMIE??? He’s just, so biased and dumb??? He’s so focused on the one dimensional view that he wants to be correct and to have happen he’s also ignoring the blatant bright neon red sign that is “YOUR MAD BECAUSE YOUR WEIRDDDD”
