Born 947 DR, he is 545 at the time of Baldur's Gate 3 in 1492 DR
He studied at Sorcere in Menzoberranzan, specializing in transmutation magic and researching faerzress. He made himself useful to his house in this way and has got by by making himself rather unremarkable.
In 1297 House DeVir was attacked by House Do'Urden and destroyed. Minolin only survived because his lover, Zaknafein, warned him of the attack and urged him to leave the city if he could. Zaknafein was never sure if Minolin escaped until he returned to the material plane in 1488 and they were reunited.

After surviving in the Underdark and making his way to the surface Minolin aided the Eilistraean's who gave him refuge in Waterdeep, he did not join the church since he disagreed with their stance on male clerics at the time, believing that if they were to truly reject Loth they should make such things equal.
He set up a home in Waterdeep that acts as his wizard's tower, though it is merely a three story house that is a little narrow. He has his own library and wine collection, and publishes books of his research under the pseudonym M.D. never leaving his full name attached to anything for fear that either the Matrons of Menzoberranzan or someone from House Do'Urden would find him alive. In 1480 he gained at teaching position at Blackstaff Academy and has stayed there since.
He has had relations with both Zaknafein Do'Urden and Jarlaxle Baenre which continued after they were reunited. Jarlaxle only found him again after he acquired his teaching position at the academy.
Minolin is 5'6" He keeps his long hair plain, often with only a braid or two or a bun when he's experimenting, after leaving Menzoberranzan he wore it half up half down in memory of Zak. He wears robes of black with only textures as accents, often utilising half-moon sunglasses and a wide brimmed boater hat to shield his eyes from the sun. He has one hoop earring from Zak and one jeweled one from Jarlaxle. Minolin is rather quiet and austere though his sense of humor is very dry. He is very good friends with the academy librarian (friends OC Sylmaris Summermoon, a sun elf of a similar nature, they have tea ceremonies together and gossip).

Minolin and Zak (I haven't quite decided how I want to draw Zak so for now he's inspired by a lot of the art I've seen of him in here, mostly by @grasseeee )

I haven't introduced him, but I made a drow character that has fallen in with the Jarlaxle, Zaknafein crowd. I'm posting these because I was getting feelings from listening to Hello Cabaret by Poets of the Fall (seriously this song screams Jarlaxle to me, some lyrics under the cut)

Also I decided he started wearing his hair that way after he believed Zaknafein was dead, he kept wearing it like that even after they were reunited, though he does change it up sometimes but never anything too fancy (unless Jarlaxle has a say in it).
Well looks like the insomnia is kicking my ass tonight so have more tetchy wizard 💙
Why does he have colour you ask? I blame Jarlaxle for it and the outfit (in truth why doesn't BDG3 have an all black dye? How is my man supposed to live like this?).
