OK here we go ! I am usually a person who does not complain a lot by how Grey’s is written because I always thought it was really good. But this season has been so bad that I really need to talk about it.
Let’s begin with this stupid Eliza, Bailey, Richard fight about who is right. I mean I liked the idea that Richard was questioned but I really hated how they did it ! First of all, letting Bailey be the bad character for a lot of episodes making her annoying and stuff even though, normally she would never betray Richard in such a way. I was kinda glad that they at least tried to fix her character by firing Minnick in the last episode. I mean we didn’t like her that much anyway but we really missed bad ass Bailey. Also this we are on team Eliza or team Richard was just stupi and I think that storyline got dragged waaaay to much.
So I actually really like Meredith and Riggs together because I think that they understand each other in such a good way and that they slowly build up their relationship. What I really disliked was that triangle between them and Maggie. First, I really didn’t understand on what basis Mer always acted childish around Maggie instead of just telling her. Also Maggie had no right being offended about not knowing when Riggs clearly wasn’t interested in her. It felt so stupid and just make Maggie annoying. I really think that since breaking her and Deluca apart ( which I though they had great chemistry and would have worked out way better than this stupid Deluca / Jo crap - will talk later about this) she has become such a whiny character I really dislike.
I don’t even know where to start. This was one of the most ridicoulous seasons for them. I was really hopeful on how it started out with them figuring out co -parenting and the dating part when Jackson got kinda jealous. Though, I was kinda sad that they cut the cute baby scene in the first epsiode it was ok. I mean this weird april being the one who led the movement against Minnick and then just changed and everybody hated on her storyline aside I think that they showed that Japril has such a good friendship and chemistry....
BUT then the writers screwed up big time. I mean I understand that they had the Maggie storyline and everything but not adressing Montana AT ALL and having NO FREAKING SCENE TOGETHER FOR 7 EPISODES I MEAN COME ON. That was so badly written. Giving us no clue and than introducing this stupic Maggie Jackson thing which has become so ridiculous. I mean I would have understood that if after Montana they had a scene where they showed that Jackson and April broke up or whatever and than get these two become closer ( although I don’t see any chemistry and the fact that they are step-siblings is weird) but I would have been ok because it could have made sense. But this it just lazy writing and also there has been a reason that Japril The Sequel has had such high ratings. Maybe the writers should get over their reluctance of Japril or elsewhere the people will stop watching because just creating drama for the sake of drama doesn’t work that well.
This has been the same back and forth as Japril. They had them get married just to break them up a few episodes later giving us that stupid baby storyline again. Can’t he just be happy for once. And Amelia runs away as usual. I really didn’t see the purpose in this storyline ( yeah I know Catherina was pregnant and had to get time off ) but it still felt so childish. Not talking for weeks I mean who does that. I was really glad when for the last episodes Amelia supported Ownen. I hope that they will fix them next season because I like them as a couple.
I am not a huge Jolex shipper but even I have to admit that this storyline barely existed this season. They had such a good build up with the trial and everything and yet they managed to completly forget Jo and Alex throughout the season. Not letting them really talk up until this one elevator scene where she tells him about her husband was a huge mistake in my opinion. And also this Deluca/ Jo thing is annoying. I mean they have just talked a little bit and now Deluca is in love ? What ? I liked the part where they showed Alex looking for her husband and the what if ... scenes. But they were too late in my opinion and also way to less Alex in the whole season. Show more peds stuff. He can do more than just being Mer’s friend.
Overall the writers rather focused on the unimportant storylines than on the exciting and important ones, which really led to a lack in quality this season. I still enjoyed some episodes like the one in the prison, the Montana ep, the first part of the finale, and I liked the idea with Maggies mom though the consistence was missing. I hope though that they will listen to their fans on what’s good and bad. There is a reason why the ratings are dropping. Even I found myself not being really interested in the epsisodes as it was the last seasons. Well these are my thoughts and if you see it differently I can accept that.
