sighs. i really really like a lot of milo miniminuteman’s older stuff, and i think some of his latest educational videos are still good (great raft and hopewell road my beloveds), but the last couple “dunking on psuedoarchaeology guys” videos have put a bad taste in my mouth a little, and either i’m more attuned and noticing it more or the new conservapedia one is actually hitting kind of uncomfortable highs
“it” being milo’s tendency to insult people’s appearance, intelligence, or education level in his angry rants rather than attacking their behavior. like, i’d have to go back and check, but am i alone in thinking that’s really gone up in the last several months or so?
i feel like i remember the filip ziba videos being far far more compassionate and professional than this even with the funny rants, and older videos being more focused on “you are a grifter and a liar and you know it” than “you’re ugly and stupid and can’t understand basic science and also a pedophile” which is just like. woah dude. especially with all his talk in the past of not wanting to uphold the ivory tower of academia and wanting to encourage non-academics to contribute to the field and insisting that they also have valuable things to add to the space. i don’t know if i can even finish the video because milo’s barely repressed urge to like, start slinging the r slur around or something feels so palpable. sucks, dude. like what.
