• k i r s t y • #the_bearded_blogger_modelmondays returns, and to kick start 2018 I’m celebrating one of the 90s hottest blondes, Kirsty Hume! Making a welcome return to the modelling industry with an editorial in this months US Vogue, this ethereal, earth mother reminds us what we’ve been missing. Discovered in 1994, her rise to Super status was swift! In less than 6 months she had scored a US Harpers Bazaar cover, was chosen by Gianni Versace to play the Bride in his Spring Atelier 94 collection, and had been taken under Patrick Denarchelier’s wing ( the two would work on numerous editorials and campaigns ). International cover girl, campaigns galore and every designers must have, Kirsty was in high demand through out the 90s and became the poster child for fashions Minimillism aesthetic ( Calvin loved her, the Belgians loved her, everyone loved her! ). Kirsty’s Hair is what made her a standout, a long blonde mane, it would become her trademark ( that is, until she loped it of for Vogue and Tonne Goodman in 2001, thankfully it is back to its original state! ). Kirsty was a big favourite of mine throughout the 90s and early 00s, yes the hair was amazing, but so was her amazing big, pillowy lips and fair skin ( thanks to her Scottish roots, it’s no wonder she became the face of Chanel cosmetics during the mid to late 90s, also staring in the company’s campaign for Allure when it first launched in 1996 ), she was a modern day blonde bombshell. Back with avengance and sharing the spotlight with daughter Violet, this week I’m sharing some of my all time favourite images of Kirsty, with many more to come I’m sure! Styled by Lori Goldstein, this editorial featured Amy, Audrey and Maggie, each epitomising the look of the mid to late 90s. This was for me everything fashion was during this period, unusual beauties and stark, moody styling, the pre Emo generation if you will. This is what I love about Franca's editorialship, her magazine really tapped into what was happening globally and socially in fashion, portraying the mood in a seemingly realistic way, gritty and relatable.
