   Hopping out of the bed of the old, rusty pick up truck she had caught a ride on, Ivory waved to the man driving before grabbing her guitar case as well as the small backpack that held most of her belongings. Standing across from the motel, her eyes wandered across the gravel parking lot and toward the rooms before training on the sign.

   Pulling out her old, beat up phone, she typed out a quick message and hit send before jogging across the road and crossing the parking lot to get to the office of the building. Pulling the door handle, she stepped into the office and up to the desk, eyes glancing around the small space before landing on a pretty blonde woman. This had to be Dylans mother. 

   She and Dylan had know each other since he moved to Oregon and they had been together on and off for about 2 years. She loved that boy with all her heart but she had never met any of his family members. Well, now was as good a time as any.

     "--You know I'd never do anything to hurt you, don't you, Mother?"

     Call it paranoia. Call it regret. Call it guilt. He can't stop thinking about his time locked in that little box, rain water drizzling through the cracks, dirt under his nails. Dark and damp like a grave.

"--I'm going to need a room. If you've got some available."

Quiet place. Homey. Lived-in. Yes, this would do nicely, for a while.
