Sam vs. Sam -- Heads or Tails. The Race for Control.
Falling further and further into blackness, nothingness, feeling that unfamiliar, strange, but yet powerful feeling of grace swirl around inside him, almost as if that bright light still shone against his skin, but the pain, it wasn't there. Not even a hint of it. Sam had expected it to be there, had even prepared for it, but it didn't come. No matter what, it wouldn't come. When suddenly, Sam found himself opening his eyes. The darkness was gone, or well, most of it. It wasn't just a solid blankness anymore, but it was night. Sam groaned, groped his hand over the dark wooden nightstand by the bed, the same bed he remembered seeing Gabriel sit down on earlier today, if it even was today, to switch on the small lamp, only to confirm his suspicions. He hadn't hear the familiar sound of Dean's breather that would've come from the other bed, hadn't heard the soft sound of the sheets as they were being moved around by the way Dean slept; wide and restless. But Dean wasn't there. No one was. Not even Gabriel who had fixed him up. Sam muttered a curse under his breath. He had wanted to thank the archangel, or at least tell him he appreciated all that work, even though it hurt like it, to understate it. Confused at his sudden loneliness, Sam sat up, placing a hand on the side of his forehead against the growing headache of standing up too fast, then decided to take it slow as he stood up, cautious to see whether his legs could carry the weight after the archangel's method of ridding him from the demon's blood.
He looked through the empty room, an instinct crawling through him. He had to find Dean. Something could have happened. He wasn't sure what, seeing as there was no sign of struggle in the room, but he had to know where Dean had gone. He had to. He felt it. He took the first near handgun and knife with him, quickly reloaded the handgun, threw on his jacket, grabbed the keys of the car, and left the room, ignoring the dry feeling of thirst in his throat, and the emptiness in his stomach. He had to find Dean. Once outside the motel, he dug through his pocket until he found his cellphone, flapping it open only to find out there was no signal. "Come on..." he whispered in frustration, holding the phone up as he walked around, searching for a signal, but it didn't take him long to find out he wasn't gonna find any signal in this place. Strange. It had yesterday. He let his phone fall back into his pocket, before he jogged over to the car. In the chaos that was this town, he and his brother had agreed to meet at this certain place whenever they would lose each other in whatever way, so they would be able to find each others in emergencies, and Sam figured it wouldn't hurt to give it a try.
