Their relationship is in its infancy. What Julian will probably gather from her shortly is that Mina has the hopes and dreams of really making it in Hollywood as a screenwriter and not as a personal assistant. He feels for her. He really does. It brings him back to when he first started and was thrown some shitty script to translate in Spanish. He gets it. You have to start from the bottom if you want to learn the ropes, and honestly he respects that more than executives or actors/actresses that practically inherited their position like a monarchy.

What he has to get through to Mina, though, is that Hollywood is a bitch. If you want to make it in this business you have to be tenacious and you have to keep moving forward. If Mina stays in her current position for long, she’ll be stagnant and no one will see her as anything else but someone to grab their coffee for them and take verbal abuse.

In the future, I want to see Julian as a real mentor to her. She either shows him what she’s working on or he just picks up her notebook and runs through it. He’ll give her his opinion and won’t sugarcoat it. There’s also a scene I want them to have where he’s running through the script aloud with her so she can actually hear it, breathe some life into it, and tell her if there are parts that fall flat.
