2024/01/27　みなべ町まちあるき。友人の誘いで、空き家活用の相談対応にみなべ町の梅農家さんのところに出向きました。みなべ町はちょうど1/27から梅林が開園。暖かい日が続いたためか、めくるめくような春の風景を堪能してきました。　 空き家活用については、梅の農繁期の援農者の住環境向上のため空き家の活用ができないか、との相談。いくつかのハードルはありますが「みなべモデル」といえそうな活用のあり方を共有しました。旧知の先生とも同席でき、非常に有意義な訪問になりました。

Propping himself up against the counter, the cold marble felt wonderful against Hisashi's flushed skin. He turned on the tap and let the water run for a minute, allowing the sound of the water rushing through the faucet to calm him. Splashing his face with cold water helped ground him further into the moment, but it wasn’t until he had dried his face and placed the towel on the counter did he notice a ring placed (interestingly enough) on the ring finger of his left hand.

That shouldn’t be there, Hisashi thought as he lifted his hand to get a better look. He didn’t recognize it from his collection of jewelry, which meant that someone must have given it to him but why would he place it on his left hand like he was…

Oh, fuck!

Hisashi glanced around the bathroom. It looked identical to the hotel room Nori and Shirasu had reserved for him, so he was still in the right hotel (at least, he hoped he was) but everything in there… The glasses case, the type of toothpaste sitting by the toothbrush that definitely wasn’t his, the hair products… Shit, even the baggy t-shirt and shorts weren’t his!

Oh no, no, no.

Hisashi most definitely wasn’t in his own room. He had shared a bed with a stranger and god knew what else happened last night. Part of him dreaded finding out, especially with this plastic-cheap-dark blue ring adorning his left hand. There was no way he actually got married, right?

2020/11/25　みなべ町の会議の前に、梅林の景観を視察。 なだらかな斜面地に広がる梅林と薪炭林。みなべ・田辺の梅システムとして世界農業遺産にも登録されている。 津波への対応を議論する際にも、梅林は大事にしたいという思いが伝わってくる。その背景となる景観を自分なりに感じてみることができました。

2020/08/24　みなべ町の会議の前に駅周辺を散策。 駅前の市街地は思っていた以上に基盤がしっかりしていた。また、商店街も以前のような賑わいを取り戻すのは難しいだろうけど、低未利用な状態を受け入れつつ、地域の拠点になりうる可能性は感じることができた。

▲商店街の一角。古い建物も残っている。空き家、空き地もある。以前のような商店街にはならないかもしれないが、低未利用な状態を逆手に取って地域の拠点となる可能性は感じることができた。

2019/12/4　和歌山県みなべ町の都市計画マスタープラン策定のお手伝いをすることになりました。みなべ町は2回目でしたが、ご一緒しているコンサルタントの方々と町内視察。太地町と比べて居住可能な高台は限られていますが、世界農業遺産 みなべ・田辺の梅システム に認定されているように、丘陵地、町の中心部の平地と、まちのそこかしこに梅林、加工場、土産物の商店と梅に関する営みの景観が見て取れました。
