while i write an exhilarating jake peralta fic tonight, choose what i write tomorrow out of my next ideas

a) aaron hotchner opens his computer do get some work done to find the photobooth open with dirty photos you took on it

b) kurt kunkle picks up his girlfriend who doesn't care that he's still streaming when she pounces on him

c) kara takes her girlfriend on a planet where no one knows them and wrecks havoc upon everyone

d) broke jake peralta & reader are fresh out of the academy and have no money. they decide to be smart businessmen and make an OF together

e) jimmy olsen needs to know more about lois lane's younger detective sister

I just want to say thank you for replying I will be using your tips they're really helpful and meaningful to me because I really admire your works xx

don't be scared at how fast i answered this please you just caught me at a great time (#unemployed) but HIGHKEY do whatever you want. if this is about motivation to write for them, yeah pretty much i'd do what you said (boring i'm sorry), but if you already have motivation to write for them but it's kind of just ooc, don't let anyone stop you from doing that. also, i am a firm believer that motivation to write for a specific character comes back organically so don't worry about it too much and continue writing for whatever other characters, but if you've been in a slump for that specific character in ages and are really trying to write for them again, i would also suggest also re-reading your own fics as a trigger reminder of what you actually like about that character.

i do get that it's more difficult when it comes to book characters, but again it's fanfiction, and you can literally write what you want, however you want it. my best example for this would be writing for the marauders because obviously we know very little of them from the books and there's basically nothing to go off of when writing for their younger selves because the way so many people (including me!!) write for them is by taking the idea of them and running with it. like you can have your own version of a character based on what you do know about them, and if you're motivated to write for the picture you have of them in your mind, by all means do that!!
