1, mikuni tolerates his antics. If he really hated him or whatever, johannes wouldn't be alive or be unharmed. mikuni is very morally grey at best, and has no qualms ab killing (his guilt ab it or whatever is another can of worms that I shan't tackle)

2, they have nicknames for each other! i don't rmb if mikuni have nicknames for other characters, but regardless, it's cute he has a nickname for Johannes. ("Johann")

You can argue that it's just for convenience (probably) but I find it significant since no other character calls Johannes Johan. Everyone else calls him formally in the form of "Doctor/Dr Faustus" (no doubt his own fault for not forming many genuine connections and being anti social)

The only other character who has a nickname for him is his own sister who practically raised him.

Most obviously, it's Johannes's nickname for Mikuni! I find "miku-miku" super cute, and looking into their characters, I can definitely see it as a teasing/condescending way of provoking mikuni lmfaoo

Besides, Johannes doesn't even bother calling Mahiru his actual name despite knowing/remembering his name, and he's the Eve of his most beloved subject ever! Apart from his own name, mikuni is the only other character whose name he uses + with a nickname

All in all, at the very least, it shows mutuality and respect between the two <3

3, Johan pranks mikuni. It seems random, but for someone who doesn't gaf about others to purposely put effort into disturbing/provoking someone else, is something to say the least lol . plus he didn't seem worried or scared at all about mikuni's reaction (important thing being that he CANT fight back at all lmfaoo out of the C3 researchers, Johan is the weakest physically. so this shows some semblance of trust that he knows mikuni wouldn't harm him)

4, trust. Johannes and Mikuni both trust each other in their rs. For one, mikuni knows Johannes is obsessed with servamps and isn't tied to anyone or anything, with his whole motive centering servamps so there's really no "threat" that Johan poses to mikuni. Johan? Who knows ...

5, Johan follows mikuni. Even tho he doesn't have any real motive (or none that I can rmb anyway,,) he still follows mikuni's plans and orders. He's also included in mikuni's plan/"chess board" which I find significant. It shows that apart from finding out about Mahiru's true nature, Johan did help quite a bit behind the scenes huh♥️

6, similar to 5, but can we talk ab how insane it is that Johannes willingly left lily to follow mikuni? the man who's entire career and life centers around servamps?? Honestly, with mikuni and lily working together, it is possible that lily was faking/going along w some secret plan and hence why Johan left but still,,, (I have no clue)

we also don't know where they were all walking off to LMFAO but props to mikuni for keeping Johannes safe and around

7, also similar to 3, he doesn't seem particularly disturbed if Johan "messes" up, and Johan doesn't rlly seem to care as well lol they're both confident for different reasons. mikuni — being caught now doesn't rlly matter since his plans would still bloom to fruition. Johan — mikuni wouldn't hurt/sabotage him in any way. Plus he seemed more teasing than anything, anyway when chiding him bc Johan could rlly not give two shits

8, adding onto mutual respect, they both support each other's likes !

For eg; Johan is a sweet tooth, and mikuni keeps the house stocked with a variety of sweeteners. (I doubt Johan does the shopping or inventory)

- Mikuni likes to read, so he has many books. Johannes kept the shelves and all the books even in the mirror space. plus it's implied he himself went through/read many/all of the books in search for more servamp stuff hehe

- Mikuni reads Johannes's published work

- Johannes "supports" mikuni and his love for his dolls in his weird, obsesseive way

- Mikuni appears to be able to read Johannes's mirror writing easily

- Mikuni says he tried changing the locks, yet Johan has a whole lab in there which idt you can just bring everywhere, so....

- it's implied that Johannes is the one who looks after the store daily since mikuni is "in less often than he's out"

- Johannes isn't inherently a friendly or outgoing person, so I find it pretty interesting that he's gotten close with mikuni to the point he greets him coming home (so cute!)

- It's mentioned in the guidebook that mikuni's favourite type of people is "strong-willed and intelligent people" (🤨 I wonder who....)
