“This is not okay”
No one commented on the scene in which Zeph said "This is not okay.” to Dutch’s plan to die along with her assassination of Aneela. 1.) Aww man Zeph really wants to follow Dutch “hallowed be her name” forever. 2.) Wow, Hannah John-Kamen REALLY portrays Dutch and Aneela differently, evident especially in this scene. Here, Dutch is so calm and accepting of her coming death, her serenity is terrifying. A note intimate with Aneela’s presence. Yet, Hannah John-Kamen shows that Dutch’s “not okay” calmness isn’t ever as unhinged as that of an “in control” Aneela. How does she do that just through wrinkling her eyes differently? Calmness, is the singular most difficult emoting to master for any actor, not to mention differentiate between layers and levels. Even Tatiana Maslany sometimes repeats facial expressions, ticks, when she’s emoting similar emotions as different characters. Hannah John-Kamen might be the first actress I’ve seen who successfully differentiates two character’s body language ENTIRELY. As though she wrote two separate languages for them both and then reads from them separately when playing Dutch or Aneela.
