#mighty

• Okii, so imagine the kingdom is under attack. Guards are running everywhere, people are screaming, and the castle is in complete chaos.

• Mighty is glued to your side, refusing to let you out of his sight. Then suddenly, someone manages to slip through the defenses and aims directly at you.

• Mighty doesn't even hesitate.

• He throws himself in front of you before anyone can stop him.

• One second he's standing beside you, the next he's hitting the ground.

• And I just KNOW your heart would completely stop at that moment.

• You didn't seem to care that the battle was still happening around you. You didn't care about the shouting or the fighting. All you see is Mighty lying there injured.

• You're immediately at his side, grabbing his face, calling his name, trying so hard not to break down right there.

• Meanwhile this absolute fool opens his eyes, gives you the weakest little smile imaginable, and the FIRST thing he says is:

"You're alright..."

• SIR.

• THAT IS NOT WHAT YOU SHOULD BE SAYING RIGHT NOW.

• It honestly makes you want to cry even more.

• After the attack, the healers manage to stop the bleeding, but you practically kicked everyone out afterward.

• "I can handle the rest."

• So now it's just the two of you in his room.

• Mighty is sitting on the edge of the bed with his armor removed, a bandage wrapped around his shoulder where he took the hit for you.

• And honestly? He's feeling pretty good about himself.

• you were safe.

• That's all that mattered.

• Then you start cleaning one of the cuts on his arm.

• And you're being... strangely quiet.

• Mighty notices immediately.

"Princess?"

• Nothing.

• You keep dabbing at the wound.

"You're upset."

• And that's when you finally crack.

"What did you expect?"

• The words come out shakier than you intended.

• You set the cloth down and look at him, eyes already watering.

"You threw yourself in front of me."

• Mighty opens his mouth to argue.

• You don't let him.

"You could've died, Mighty."

• OOF.

• The room gets very quiet after that.

• You continue wrapping the bandage around his arm, but now tears are slipping down your cheeks.

"You never think about yourself."

"You always rush into danger."

"And one day..."

• Your voice breaks.

"One day you're not going to come back."

• That one hits him harder than any sword ever could.

• Because suddenly he realizes this isn't about his injuries.

• It's about how terrified you were of losing him.

• The second you finish tying the bandage, you finally stop pretending you're okay.

• You just lean forward and hug him.

• Careful of his wounds, but tight enough that he knows you don't want to let go.

"I don't want you to leave my side..."

• Mighty completely melts.

• His arms immediately wrap around you.

• One hand gently rubbing your back.

"Hey..."

• His voice is so soft now.

"I'm still here."

• He presses a kiss to the top of your head.

"And I'll always do everything I can to come back to you."

• Not because he's a knight.

• Not because it's his duty.

• But because hearing you cry over him?

Yeah, Mighty never wants to experience that again.

The horseman in the back reeled and fell back from his horse. Had to have been picked off by an archer from behind.

I knew it. Buckeye gritted her teeth, rushing forward with her people into a line of infantry with spears and swords ready. Mighty Ka is out there being fucking crazy, as usual. Of course the man had no idea Buckeye’s people were behind the enemy, ready to get struck by any stray arrows coming through.

But that meant that Mighty Ka’s half of the pincer move Buckeye had planned was rushing in right on time.

Brands jabbing outward, the thirteen plunged into the enemy--Sprite-eye dangling from Buckeye's fist, unable to walk without help now.

Horses reared and pranced back out of the way of the blazing-hot brands, and many of the soldiers too, in blind confusion about where this new force came from. Officers shouted contradicting orders.

Mighty Ka's fastest soldiers started to catch up on the other side, though many of them were quickly cut down. 

Buckeye slashed through her enemies, her once-powerful right arm tiring quickly. 

She dashed sideways, parried, and there was a sickening snap as her sword broke, inches from the hilt. 

She threw it down and reflexively tried to block with her shield arm--except there wasn't a shield. The warhammer cracked across the mangled elbow. She hissed a curse and finished her move, taking her enemy by the throat and throwing him to the ground.

I'll feel that one in a bit.

Then she made eye contact with Carius himself, horsed and shouting orders desperately.

The moment he saw her, he spurred toward her, and she faced down her enemy and his stallion bare-handed.

The massive stallion rushed at her, and she felt her head draining of blood, but she swallowed and held her ground, staring at the horse, which had its head turned slightly to look at her. 

"Look at me when I kill you, seid!" Carius roared.

From the precision of his movements, Buckeye knew he was very well trained in the Jaiun martial arts. She couldn't let him get close enough to even take aim at her with that spear.

Buckeye stared at his horse. Horses don't like to attack people. And suddenly it was on her, rearing up, massive hooves pawing the air, a solid half-ton of weight smashing toward her. Just one of those kicks could crush her face in. 

But Carius couldn't reach her from there, leaning forward, and he barely had the dexterity to stay seated and grasp his spear at the same time--much less the angle he'd have to take to lean around the horse. 

And suddenly the horse slammed down just north of Buckeye's head, knocking her down and sideways by the shoulder. Carius made a flailing jab at her last-minute, but the fall had knocked her out of his way. 

When she stood up, time had slowed. 

Carius wheeled and spurred his horse toward her, but he had spent too long in the same place.

An arrow struck into the joint between his helmet and breastplate, angled down into his neck, and his jaw dropped as he grabbed at it. He screamed a cuss and rushed at Buckeye. 

She turned tail and ran.

She was still running as she heard her name being called.

"Buckeye!" 

It was Maya’s voice.

Just like last time.

And she realized right then, she'd do it again, any day, she'd save her people, even if it meant those horrors again.

She turned.

And then she heard Maya shout it again,

"Buckeye! He's dead!" 

And she turned, and she saw his horse galloping off the field, no rider in sight.

She was jostled by one of her own people, and she realized she was watching Mighty Ka's army picking off infantry with their longbows, striding slowly closer, methodically shooting from the long thigh quivers that they were famous for.

A Jaiun rushed toward her, and she bolted at them, catching them around the middle and pinning them to the ground.

She punched the Jaiun in the face, knocking her out in one blow. She scrambled to her feet, lifting a foot to stomp the soldier, then hesitated.

Not one of the Jaiuns were standing. The navy blue uniforms were scattered all over the field, crying, many of them pleading for quarter before they were put down.

The battle was won.

Buckeye’s people were free.

Mighty the Armadillo being hopelessly, pathetically, adorably in love with Princess Reader would actually FEED NATIONS!

• First of all... this man is gone. Completely. Utterly. No saving him.

• The second you walk into a room, it’s over. His posture immediately straightens. His voice gets deeper.

• He’s trying so hard to be honorable and composed, standing there in polished armor like the kingdom’s finest knight...

• Meanwhile...his brain??? “She smiled at me.” • “She said my name.” • “I would literally fight a dragon right now.”

• Mans is SWEATING under that armor.

• The Chaotix and Ray notice immediately.

• Especially Espio. (ofc)

• Mighty could be staring at you from across the royal banquet hall like you hung the stars yourself, and Espio’s just there like: “You are not subtle.”

• Cue Vector absolutely LOSING it. “MY BOY IS DOWN HORRENDOUS.”

• Charmy is ten times worse. This little menace is flying circles around Mighty singing made-up love songs: “Sir Mighty and his pretty princess~ sitting in a tree~”

• Ray honestly tries to defend him at first...Until he catches Mighty polishing his armor extra carefully before royal garden patrol: “...Oh. Oh, you’ve got it BAD bad.”

• And the funniest part? Mighty denies NOTHING. Bro is too honest.

• He just gets all flustered, rubbing the back of his neck.: “I just... care deeply for her wellbeing.”

• VECTOR: “THAT’S A FANCY WAY TO SAY YOU WANNA HOLD HER HAND.”

• And oh... he absolutely does.

• Secretly dating Mighty would be PEAK soft romance.

• Midnight garden strolls.

• Hidden tower meetings.

• Him taking off his gauntlets just so he can hold your hand more gently??? I’m unwell.

• He treats you like you are the most precious thing in existence. Not in an overbearing way. In a deeply sincere “I treasure every word you say” way.

• You mention liking a certain flower once? Suddenly he’s learning how to grow it near your window.

• You’re cold? Cape. Immediately.

• You’re tired? This man is offering his shoulder, his arm, his ENTIRE EXISTENCE!

• And PLEASE imagine you patching him up after training. Tiny cuts on his knuckles. You carefully tending to him while he looks at you like this is the closest thing to heaven.

• Ray walking in accidentally and just FREEZING. “...WAIT.” “WAIT WAIT WAIT.”

Chaos erupts.

• Charmy nearly faints from gossip overload.

• Vector is screaming.

• Espio, somehow, already knew. Duh. “I had suspicions.”

• After the reveal, the teasing becomes absolutely unbearable.

• Vector calls you “Your Highness” in the most dramatic tone possible every time Mighty is nearby.

• Charmy asks when the royal wedding is at least twice a week.

• Ray is actually super supportive but absolutely slips in comments like: “So... when you two get married, do I get a special title or am I just everyone’s favorite third wheel?”

• Mighty is red. Constantly. But despite the embarrassment? He never once hides how much he loves you.

• If anything... once it’s out? He gets bolder.

• Casual forehead kisses in private. Hand on the small of your back. Looking at you with that warm, unwavering devotion like he still can’t believe someone as wonderful as you chose him.

• He is the kind of knight who would kneel before you, kiss your hand, and still somehow make it feel personal instead of performative.

• Because to him? You are not just his princess. You are his heart. His greatest honor. The one thing he’d choose in every lifetime.

Honestly... Mighty being whipped is less “man falls” and more “man joyfully launches himself into love and never recovers.”
