A surprisingly short amount of time into their dating, Fang suddenly offers Mi-an to go get dinner at the Blue Moon. They get there and Fang's booked the best table, complete with candlelight and rose petals and what have you. They're both oddly quiet during the entire meal, at some point Mi-an goes to the bathroom to calm down but the tension hasn't eased one bit when she returns.

When their dessert comes, Fang finally speaks.

"Mi-an, I... We've known each other... For some time now..."

He stutters through his whole speech. Mi-an isn't sure if he's proposing or breaking up with her.

Finally, finally, he gets up, gets down on one knee and pulls out a ring.

"Will you... Marry me?"

And...

Mi-an bursts out laughing.

Fang silently panics. This wasn't in the script - is this even a possible response to a proposal? Does it mean yes or no???

He holds his breath for the whole three seconds it takes Mi-an to dig around in her pockets and pull out...

A wedding ring.

Fang keeps glitching until Mi-an catches her breath enough to shout way louder than she intended:

"Of course I will!"

All the tension evaporates instantly. Fang catches Mi-an's laughter. They throw themselves into each other's arms. Behind them, the other customers of the Blue Moon start clapping and cheering and neither of them notice. They put their respective wedding rings on the other's finger and go to finish their dessert.

What if it wasn't just a little

What if she overestimated her alcohol tolerance and got absolutely h a m m e r e d

And what if Fang begrudgingly accepted to get dragged to the dance-off and found Mi-an there barely even standing straight

And she got really excited to see him

Like, picture this. Fresh off the train Mi-an, going around town to introduce herself, comes across Arvio's shop empty save for the bird on the counter.

And she instantly goes into cute animal mode.

"Hi, baby! Are you keeping the shop all on your own? Such a big boy! Do you want a sand date, baby? You're so polite, such a polite little boy!"

Catori and Heidi standing in the background like "should we tell her?" "Lmao nope"

When Arvio finally comes back, he finds Mi-an with her elbows on the counter, scritching X's beak and calling him a precious little baby boy. She notices him and she's like "oh there you are! I was just petting your bird, he's adorable btw" and Arvio's like "...not my bird"

And he points to Fang standing a little behind Catori and Heidi visibly confused, like who is this girl and why is she petting X but she doesn't seem to intend any harm and she's being really nice to him but also they don't know her and X shouldn't get used to accepting treats from strangers and also he's kinda pissed that Arvio borrowed X without asking again and-

Mi-an turns to him with the biggest smile and asks "oh, is this your bird? What's his name?"

He hesitates a little but answers "...X"

She goes to introduce herself: "I'm Mi-an, I'm the new builder in town, nice to meet you-"

"X. Here."

X gets on Fang's shoulder and Fang glares at Arvio before turning around and leaving. Mi-an looks after him because that was kinda cool and also the new guy's gorgeous who said that

Once he's far enough away, she turns to Arvio like "that was kinda cool but also did I do something wrong?? He hardly even acknowledged me" and Arvio, Catori and Heidi are all like "nope he's literally just Like That™"

Result of the story: Mi-an's now interested in Fang, Fang's now interested in Mi-an and X has to be bribed out of greeting patients with a high-pitched "hi baby" for the next week or so

(he keeps greeting Mi-an with that "hi baby" until the end of time)

Cause like if I try to convert the MTAS calendar to a more realistic one I do a x3 so I end up with 28x4 = 112 days in a year, x3 = 336

365-336 = 29

I have a FULL FUCKING MONTH LEFT OVER

Not only lore-wise, but also mechanically in the game: Fang's friendship quests are all locked behind X's quest "Thief".

Mi-an figures this out subconsciously and completely by accident.

And you'll look over to them to see which bone they broke just in time to see them spit out a chunk of a wooden pencil and put the rest back in their mouth and just. Keep chewing on it like nothing happened.

Mi-an does not have a single rubber grip left on any of her tools because she chewed them all off waiting for a talk with Yan. Fang's stethoscope had bite marks on it before he even had kids from getting chewed on in between appointments. Chewing gum doesn't work on either of them, it's not resistant enough, they don't have to put enough force into chewing it for it to be as relaxing as what they usually put in their mouths.

I hc that Fang writes letters to his mother every day, kind of like a diary but he burns the finished letters so his mom can read them in the afterlife.

Once they're already an established couple, Mi-an finds a discarded draft of one of these letters to Sarnai. It probably dates back to around when her first friendship quest, Takin' it easy, would've happened. She reads it (just to see what it is she's not actively trying to snoop) and sees lines praising her appearance and personality in incredibly poetic ways

Her smile is warm as a blanket on a cold winter night, her laughter akin to chimes in the wind. She is graceful as a swan in her every move. She is kind to a fault, so much so I find myself believing her mere presence could bring back life to the desert.

Tell me, Mother, is this what you felt for Father?

She tries not to tell him. She doesn't want him to think she was snooping. But after reading that, she tears up every time she looks at him. It takes Fang a remarkably short time to notice, and when she confesses to reading his discarded draft, they've been dating long enough that he's not embarrassed of what he wrote. He wipes her tears with his thumbs, telling her he meant every word he wrote back then and still means them now.
