#midsummer's ball

He didn’t expect to see her at a place like this. Though, he was sure she would feel the same way about him. He didn’t have any obligations to be here. Bruce Wayne wasn’t very well known in Hive City. Which was likely for the best since they were confined to only one city. Slowly, Bruce allowed himself to drift over to where Cass was standing. Slowly, his arms crossed over his chest as he moved to stand next to her.

“You know, usually events like this have people on the dance floor with one another.” He said, a joking tone to his voice as he regarded her out of the corner of his eye. He didn’t have to put on a serious expression right now. He wasn’t in his gear. He could be Bruce Wayne. Someone who was... somewhat friendlier, at least.  “You don’t want to mingle or dance, Cass?” He asked with a light smile.

“Well, don’t you look lovely tonight. Not that that somehow changes from any other night but...” He trailed off as a waiter conveniently walked by. Plucking a pair of glasses of champagne from the tray they held, he offered one to her and offered a warm smile at the woman. Selina Kyle. He knew her well. Though most of the interactions they had were as Batman and Catwoman.

It was, admittedly, rare for him to approach her out of his other suit. But he felt like he, perhaps, deserved some kind of relaxation so he’d decided to attend this ball. If she was here, it meant two things. He could keep an easier eye on her and she wasn’t out pulling off any kind of extravagant heist. So if something happened, he could at least confirm that she hadn’t done it.

“Well, don’t you clean up nice?”

Of course he remembered the girl. He remembered everyone who tried to stop him from stealing from someone. He remembered well. Not for any reason in particular aside from who to avoid being in the vicinity of. While this kind of place was ripe for the picking for theft, there were eyes everywhere and his outfit did little to distract people from his presence. Though he found that many found it to be so gaudy that they simply averted their eyes. He wasn’t embarrassed, of course, but Ahri? Well, that was possibly a different story.

“Oooh, pardon me, miss. I would hate to embarrass you with this awful outfit of mine. I wore it as a bit of a joke and I’m paying for it now. But I simply wanted to comment on how lovely you look! I just happened to be passing by and found myself quite taken in!”

Naturally, the glint of jewelry catching his eye had been the initial thing that got his attention. However, once he got a look at who was wearing it, he just couldn’t help himself. He had no desire to steal from her, naturally. She seemed a nice enough person from afar. He was not one to dilly-dally with flirting for too long, especially with a nine-tailed fox woman no doubt trying to find him.

“You know. I’ve never been much of a fan of events such as this one.”

A small part of him had always wondered if his father had played events such as this one. Or if he simply went around to the various taverns throughout the lands of his world, sinking hours into his craft and trying to knock up loose women. Why yes, he was counting his mother among them. He held no love for either of them! His brow furrowed a bit when the song reached an apex of sorts. He greatly disliked music.

“Oh, dear! Now this... this just won’t do.” Vantiel stepped forward, a look of concern etched upon his features as he approached the girl. Slender fingers cupped his chin as he regarded her, a light frown upon his lips and brows furrowed. There was obvious concern within his tone but perhaps a mischievous twinkle in his eye to those with a trained eye for such a thing.
