can’t stop thinking about that time I told my mom “I’m getting old” and she was so outraged like “NO!!!! You haven’t even done all the things you’re supposed to do!!!”

TIL: 24yrs old with no clear direction is okay. Exploring careers is okay and fun. Just work hard in everything you do.
I'm currently in one of the lowest paying jobs in my life at 24, fresh out of university, working as a communications manager for a non-profit. I enjoy my work and what I'm doing, and comfortable with my environment somewhat, that I feel like it would be in my best interest to stay for years. But I do need to work less hours for the same pay. So right now I'm looking for a part-time.
I've applied to other jobs in communications on Indeed, but what intrigues me the most is the available jobs within my network. I have experience in non-profit world, government world, start-up world, and I have a small, yet close set of connections I made over the years at my many jobs.
Overall, I did picture myself as a long form editor, so I decided to reach out to an editor of a newspaper in my town. I found out about him through my current job. He didn't have funding yet, so I think I'll offer to write a couple stories pro-bono just to get my foot in the door. I'm trying to get in to the door at CBC, CTV and other media outlets, and I remember my public broadcasting teacher at U of O, he was a major guy there. Just recently I nearly hit him in my car (lol) so I might look for him on LinkedIn. I'll probably update this:
work same money but less hours
start a pharmacy tech course (i like to have something to fall back on, a career in comms is not for the weak)
write pt volunteer for the newspaper The Corridor
keep the same job title for a year
get CBC contacts on LinkedIn + learn more about working in the media journalism industry
When do your mid 20s stop feeling like ass? Also whoever is co authoring my timeline fuck you .
Yay! It's my birthday today!
