Mama I'm Comin' Home
Manyamann: Other than pulling over on the side of the road for a cat nap, he barely got any rest during his drive back up to the base. There were far too many thoughts swirling around in that head of his. When he finally returned he took time to shower and wake up a bit more before he headed off to Mama's office.
As he approached the door he gave a knock to it and waited long enough for her to grant him entry before he headed inside. That upbeat demeanor he tended to show wasn't completely there, even if he did give her a bit of a smile. "So... Ya boys got their letta's. Didn't know I was gonna be dealin' with some mafia folk." Might as well come right out and say it.
Administration-co: Mama let the man in. A cool smile curling on her lips as Johnny entered and got right to the point.
"Hello Dearie." She greeted in a warm tone. "Well, it was jus a simple letter delivery. I could have called ahead and told them you were coming but-" her smile widened. I wanted to see how well you and them got along. Video footage is a marvelous thing. And I wonât lie to you Johnny-boy, you did well with guns promptly put in your face."
"I'm impressed."
Manyamann: "Yeah well... I can't say I liked it. Been a while since I was reminded that I can be well and truly killed." He shook his head then decided to take a seat instead of standing there with his hands shoved into his pockets.
"Givin' me a bit of a test, eh? See if I was gonna piss myself? I've dealt with shit stains in the mafia befoah." He shrugged lightly, as if it was no issue with him even if in truth he was nervous back there. At least he knew how to keep most of his composure.
"As long as they ain't cuttin' off the rest of my fingers, I don't care what they do."
Administration-co: "Oh no no Honey. Some of my own personal men might seem a bit brutal-" she paused to chuckle at her own joke. "But they are at least sensible. Mostly. Itâs a good idea to keep them under watch though."
"What I was attempting to see is how well you could keep your head in a stressful situation and the risk of permanent death prominent. I have a little plan for you honey. You would be allowed to reject, but if you accepted it would give you a lighter favor in my eyes."
Manyamann: He silently studied her, frowning just a bit as he did so. Easing back into the chair, he loosely crossed his arms over his stomach. "This all part of gettin' my pal out of the slammer? I was expectin' that he'd be taken care of after he was out." Tilting his head a bit, he shrugged.
"I'm all ears, though. Whatcha got goin' on in that pretty head of yours?"
Administration-co: "It is." Mama confirmed. "But not that. We get him out, I'll find him a place to be. But what I mean by we, I literally mean we."
Mama got out of her seat and walked about the length of her desk. Coming to the front she leaned against it and crossed her arms over her chest. "That little section of the Australian Mafia you met will be the men and women I send out to bust your pal Honey. My request is that you join them and lend a hand. First, by visiting your friend in jail and tell him to expect it to come. Second, to be there scouting ahead for Dan and his crew. none of them are fast runners and jail breaks arenât easy. This ainât a base battle where if you mess up you walk out of respawn and try again. This requires strategy, a battle plan, and a pair of eyes looking ahead to warn comrades of guards."
Manyamann: As she went on to explain, his brows lifted slightly. When she mentioned about getting him out, he definitely didn't expect a jail break. "And here I thought it was gonna be somethin' a little more.. ah legal. Well, as legal as one can get in a situation like this." Drumming his fingers against his arm, he gave it some thought.
"It's pretty risky.. Could be all for naught and he ends up gettin' killed." Funny how he thought of his friends death before his own. Lifting a hand he scratched at his temple. "Dat the plan you got for me? If ya think you can do it without losin' him, then I'm in."
Administration-co: "I'm certain it can be done with success. Dan and his men are professionals after all. I'm sorry the 'legal' Way wont be an option." Her smile turned apologetic. "I ainât a lawyer, and if some stranger was tryin' to get a man out of jail it would look suspicious. The law would wanna know who I am and if they trace me back to the Industries, it wouldn't be good."
Not to mention she was working with illegal immigrants smuggling drugs and weapons into America, but perhaps it wouldn't be good to mention that.
"You still have a chance to not do it; the option is yours. I like ya honey, you got a good head on your shoulders. So thatâs why I'm beinâ honest with ya."
Manyamann: "He's my friend," Johnny said simply, his eyes dropping to the floor as he did so. His only friend if he stopped to think about it. People always had this idea about all Scouts and rarely gave them a chance to see if they were all the same. Broderick did, and he appreciated that.
He shook his head with a grunt and peered at her again, his bravado easily returning. "So yeah. I'm in. I wanna make shoah ya boys get things done right. Not sayin' they ain't good at what they do, but y'know... That's my friend they're tryin' to bust out. He might enjoy the excitement anyway, heh."
Administration-co: "Good." Mama perked up at his agreement, and the woman clapped her hands together. "I had to send my boys of on another mission, but Iâll be sure to get in contact with you before they return. Any questions? Concerns?"
Manyamann: Slowly drumming his fingers against the back of his hand, he thought about what else he could question but, as it was, he didn't have any other ones at this moment. Maybe later he might come up with some concerning this job. For now, though, the business portion of this little meeting was over and by the grin on his lips he had a more personal question to ask.
"Ya get my Valentine's gift, or did one of these otha' assholes snag it?"
Administration-co: Well she wasnât expecting that."You mean the bottle of wine with the chocolates? I did and I enjoyed them." Mama added a chuckle and moved around her desk once more to open one of the cabinets. She pulled out a box of candies; not Johnnyâs but still sweets. "I've been working off the candies I've been given since Valentineâs day; these are the rest ainât too go to eat too much sweets."
Manyamann: "Not much for sweets, eh? Dat's alright. Gives me somethin' to look forward to come next year. I'm sure I can find somethin' that you'd enjoy since it seems I got some competition in the chocolate department." He glanced to the box that she held and pursed his lips slightly, quite sure that he could definitely find something she'd like. "But that's next year. Until then.. how about that date?" He lifted his hands, grinning at her. "Purely platonic. Call it boss appreciation."
Administration-co: "Oh you don't quit do you dearie?" She chuckled, shaking her head as once again the administrator took her seat. "I aint too sure about it Honey. Starters even if it is platonic it is still bad to-" and she used her fingers for hypothetical quotations "-go out with an employee. Second, people outside to TFI don't take too kindly seeinâ a woman with my ethnic background wearinâ nice clothes and doinâ well for herself. It could always cause troubles."
Manyamann: "Nope, sure don't. I wouldn't be where I am now if I learned how to quit." Which.. wasn't necessarily a good thing when he thought about it. He shrugged softly. Some good came out of his jail time and being trapped in a TFI contract. Her second comment did well to make that ever-present grin of his falter. She was right. Someone would say something stupid and he'd haul off and coldcock them. Night ruined.
"Alright, then. Letâs not go out. I'll cook somethin' and bring it to ya. No goin' out to be seen by other employees and no havin' me arrested for knockin' some assholes teeth out." Raising his brows he put on a charming grin that lifted the scarred side of his mouth. "I'm a wicked cook," he added as a little sing song. "Whatcha say, Mama?"
Administration-co: Mama laughed. He was persistent, but the Admin didn't think she could bend. It could be innocent, he could simply want to do a 'boss appreciation' thing for her. But then again she couldnât make the scout hopeful and lead him on.
Taking a moment to look him over, Mama decided that maybe the scout was being cheeky to stay on her good side or for the fun of it. Either way, it was amusing. And Mama did love home cooking.
"You ain't gunna give up are ya honey?" She asked. "If I say no you're gonna come back at me next visit with another offer, am I right?"
Manyamann: "Next visit? Nah. Maybe the one afta' dat," he said with a broad grin, his humor remaining even in the face of possible rejection. It couldn't be said he hadn't been there before. Shrugging softly, he lifted a hand to scratch at his stubbled jaw, getting rid of an itch that was bothering him.
"Gonna be straight with ya. I like what I see, and yeah, it'd make my night--hell my /month/--if we'd be able to sit down and have dinna'. But y'know, I ain't stupid. I know ya outta my league, doll. And it wouldn't surprise me if ya saw me as some young punk schmoozing just fa' the sake of doin' so."
Dropping his hand to his thigh, he pursed his lips in thought, then gave another shrug. "My persistence seems to make ya smile and dat's alright with me. Dat smile of yours? Worth a thousand dinna' nights. So I'm gonna keep tryin' to make ya smile."
Administration-co: "Actualy thatâs exactly what I was thinkinâ." Mama admitted with a shake of her head. "But I have to say the answer is no. I love a good home cooked meal but I gotta keep my relations with my employees just that. No relations and not even friends. I'm sure you understand."
"But you are a cheeky thing and a sweetheart. You should find a lady around your age and try wooin' her. I know a few sweet hearts, but you probably wouldnât be interested either way."
Manyamann: "Yeah, nah. You're right. Ain't interested in a sweetheart," he said with a shrug, still somehow maintaining his humor. "Most of the gals I come across 'round heah are young things dat ain't got an idea of what they want--I ain't some teen anymore," he added, in case she happened to be like many others who thought he was barely out of high school. "I tend to be interested mature women, ones that knows what she wants and goes after it. One with a strong head on her shouldaâs."
"And outside? Ya think someone's gonna wanna deal with a mercenary? Most of the folk in the neighborin' towns think we're nothin' but destructive ruffians." Chuckling softly, he shifted his weight and pushed to his feet. Business was concluded and to stick around any longer after being turned down would just seem...pathetic. "But hey.. thanks for not just tellin' me to screw off, eh? I respect dat, and I also respect your decision. Ain't gonna stop me from makin' ya smile, though." When he smiled at her it was a little diminished, but still there regardless.
"If thea's nothin' else, I'll go ahead and get outta ya hair."
Administration-co: "Well I ainât the only grown woman with a good head on her shoulders." Mama replied. "The Industry is a good place to find ladies like me. You just gotta search. But I appreciate your respect Johnny."
Mama picked up her reading glasses and slipped them into place on her nose before looking back up to Johnny. "If you don't min, I have a bit of planning to do and some paper work to go over. I will keep you posted about 'the mission' you just make sure you keep yourself well rested."
Manyamann: "Yeah, yeah shoah. Look forward to ya call, and should ya need anything any time, just lemme know, eh?" The corner of his mouth lifted into a half grin and he gave her a salute-like gesture with two fingers at his brow. "See ya around, boss."
With that he turned around to make his way to the door, doing well to maintain the usual confident stride he tended to have. It wasn't until he was in the hallway with the door closed behind him that he frowned. Figures. His first interest since coming into the industries and it's a goddamn administrator. Shaking his head he continued on to head back to his own base.
