Wedding Reception Late Snacks or Meals for Guests
Wedding receptions are a time to celebrate, bring families together, eat, drink and have the memories for the rest of your life. There is no perfect outline to a wedding day, because this day if YOUR DAY!!! There are many traditional things that need to happen, like the “I do” part, but for the most part, you can make this day about you and your guests.
This blog will be about one part of the wedding reception that I am seeing more often, the late night second meal or snacks for guests. Though the guests probably enjoyed a sit down or buffet style meal during the reception, many times they are dancing and drinking late into the night. This makes some guests hungry. This is where the late night second meal or snacks comes in. These late night meals or snacks can have two purposes. The first is it feeds your guests and the second is that it keeps people there having fun longer. When people get hungry at a reception after a long day, the feel tired and then leave. This has a “follow the leader affect”. When people see others leave, they think they should leave or the reception is almost over. Do not let your guests leave early, let them have fun until your time is over at the venue.
Now what do you feed the guests? At some receptions, we have seen pizza delivered, subs, desserts, chicken fingers, hot dogs and we have even seen them bring out a small version of the earlier buffer dinner. Recently we spoke with Jayell Smoke House BBQ. They were invited to provide a late night treat to the guests of a wedding. Owner of Jayell Smoke House BBQ, David Leidlein provided the guests with pulled pork, pulled brisket sliders, smoked mac and cheese, along with his signature sauces of Bavarian Root Beer, Belle Isle Red, Exit 224b Ghost Pepper, “honest John” jalapeno, and Rogers City Porter. This sounds like an amazing late night snack for guests. It is full of flavor, not too heavy and will keep the party going.
Guests appreciate it when you feed them and think of them when they attend your wedding and reception. The guests take their time to come to your big day and spend money on a variety of things just to be there. By showing them that you thought of them makes them feel special too on the amazing day of your wedding.
