Are people losing their minds? Mr. Mulgrew if you are too ignorant to realize that speaking the way you did in this piece incites violence, then how can anyone trust your judgement on common core or what is best for educating children. Behaving like a thug does not bode well for your point. The entire point of education to teach people with words, patience and guidance, not brute force like some Neanderthal who can't control his temper. Perhaps you had a few drinks before you spoke to loosen you up? Regardless you need to get a PR person so you don come off as such a dolt to the general population if you ever want to earn their support. Btw - I've seen some examples of common core education and it doesn't take a genius to realize something is very wrong with the entire CC philosophy. Local Community education and influence with a state standard is all that is needed to properly educate our children. People that care, are good educators with adequate text books, desks, etc is real common core. When states realize that good salaries bring in good educators there will be plenty of teachers and schools to provide smaller classrooms. Make educating children more encouraging by investing in schools and higher teacher salaries and benefits. Invest in more variety of courses. Manage a child's education by determining what they are good at and letting them explore their potential with classes that mean something to them. We are wasting an artists time in biology classes and we are waisting a chemists time in art classes. The struggle of the nations school system is just another example of the bigger overall problems the United States has. The people always have the power to fix it if they choose to. The first order of business by the people should be to remove Mr. Mulgrew from his duties.
