I never had an issue with Jimmy Fallon. I thought his stupid games were funny sometimes and his show wasn’t my fave but it was solidly fine, you know? But then he bowed and scraped and kissed ass to Trump, and has specifically NOT gone hardcore to town with him the way these other comedians have, and maybe he would say that his only job is to be funny (which he accomplishes a good percentage of the time, possibly), but people’s reactions to him, his plummeting rates, show pretty clearly that when comedy stops being relevant to its surrounding reality, it stops mattering to people. What’s happening not just in the US but in the world at large, including in my own country (Canada) is too important to ignore, and he basically has. The others haven’t, and people are listening. It’s a sad reality when comedians are bringing more truth and holding the powers that be to a higher level of accountability than the actual news, but that’s how things are right now. Maybe it’s not the comedians’ jobs to speak truth to power and bring political satire with both fists, but I for one sure am glad that these folk are doing it! They’re getting tons and tons of lashback - Stephen Colbert, Sam Bee, Jimmy Kimmel all having had to apologise for things they’ve said, John Oliver getting outright sued (though the lawsuit was dismissed!), etc - which means that they’re right on the money and that their points are hitting where it hurts. Good for them!!! Meanwhile, Jimmy Fallon can play it “safe” and watch his audience dwindle into nothing. Safe has no place in these times. .

It has flaws, but I loved it. Just like I loved Pacific Rim, even though it is also a flawed movie.
