Harry: Doing magic without my staff or blasting rod is nearly impossible. It's like asking Michael to fight demons with a Nerf foam sword.
Michael: Damascus, 1996. It wasn't as difficult as you'd think.

How Michael Carpenter and Harry Dresden met
I noticed in one of the books, can't remember which one atm, Harry brings up Michael and Murphy responds, "Charity's husband?" and honestly that says so much in so little. You'd assume that she knows about Michael through Harry, but she doesn't. She knows him through Charity.
In my most recent reread, I caught it when Butters said that Charity does Jiujitsu, and it clicked together. That's likely how Murphy knows her. Sure, Murphy does Akido, but they they probably move in the same circles. And that's a perfect opportunity for Harry and Michael to meet.
I imagine it happened at some kind of tournament. Harry showed up to support Murphy, to try to mend broken fences post-Fool Moon. Michael was there to support his wife, of course. Then the divine intuition told him that Harry was important and he should meet his gaze, and the rest is history.
If someone was to make a short story about it, there would probably be a supernatural competitor using their abilities to cheat and Michael and Harry would have to stop them before someone gets seriously injured.
