Origins of Droopy
Created by Tex Avery in 1943 for the MGM cartoon "Dumb Hounded," Droopy was voiced by Bill Thompson, who was well-known in radio and movies at the time. He was not officially labeled with the name "Droopy" until his fifth film "Señor Droopy," by which time he was quite popular and had been appearing regularly in Our Gang Comics under the name "Happy."
