Instagram Expands Subscriptions to Eligible US Creators and Adds Support for NFT Sales and Gifts on Reels
Instagram started experimenting with digital collectibles on Instagram earlier this year, and as of currently, we're extending the ability for individuals, businesses, and collectors to share digital collectibles they've made or acquired. In a move to help content creators monetize their presence on the social media platform, Meta Platforms announced on Wednesday that it was adding a number of new features to Instagram, including a tool to trade digital collectibles. As of soon, users will be able to support creators by purchasing their non-fungible tokens (NFTs) directly from Instagram, the company announced. The company announced that a small group of US creators would test the new features, and it added that it has plans to quickly expand to more nations. As it competes for talent with TikTok and other platforms at a time when influencers are bringing in money from advertising to these platforms, Meta has been introducing more features for users to make money on its social media apps. Along with this initiative, Meta announced that it would make Instagram subscriptions available to all U.S.-based creators who qualify in order to give them a more stable source of income.
