Just finished listening to this book, Metabolical, by Robert Lustig. Since I've read or listened to lots of books along these lines, nothing I didn't really know, but he went deeper into the science than most, which, frankly, lost me at times.
Bottom line summary:
Eat real food.
Stop eating processed foods, especially those with added sugar, and even worse, with fructose (i.e., sweetened carbonated beverages)

Dr Lustig points out how unhealthy we are as a society attributed to food processing and the impact that has on our health. Making matters worse is the pharmaceutical approach to treat symptoms. Light is shed on how these drug companies “contribute” to the medical institutions, and how governmental regulations are influenced. Amazing read that sheds light on the truth.
