After a collaborative lunchtime programming design session, I thought I'd share a link to a weird paper on teaching programming I read a few years ago, should take me two minutes to find it again. But eventually, I found it, but not before reading a few related papers, including one later placing significant doubt on their results. Middlesex University is really not in Scotland (it's just north of London), and "The camel has two humps" is a cooler paper title than University of Michigan's "The Programming Performance Prophecies: predicting student achievement in a first-year introductory programming course" Still, you've got to give the american academics an aliteration attempted award.
