It really is kind of funny how the most effective bait on a string that finally got me to read Umineko is also like. The Spoiler Character. of Umineko.
Battler gender to me does kind of exist in a . like. on one hand I think Battler as a cis man is incredibly important, because, like. That means that this cis guy, upon realizing the truth of the games, instantly and radically changes his entire personality and is willing to undergo literal torture in order to protect a trans woman, personal cost to himself be damned.
but on the other hand she hates her name and she's uncomfortable with all her relatives commenting on her height and how tall she's gotten and there's the kind of heartbreaking moment where her and Jessie re-meet and they are both still expecting Jessie to be taller and stronger than her, and feel unsettled and like their entire dynamic has been thrown off by this no longer being the case. and all of this exists since the very first moments of Umineko. This isn't even getting into episode 6, The Transgender Battler Episode. Or anything else in between.
vaguely with the thought of last reblog in mind nothing made me more excited than getting told by friends that it was incredible how fast I understood things about the Sayolings. and initially I was like well but I had spoilers about it, I think just knowing they're a system from the start makes some of this really obvious? and getting told I still nailed the dynamics pretty fast and pointed out interesting things along the way. like yes. I'm doing it. I'm understanding Sayolings. something normal to want and like climbing the mountain of purgatory to achieve.
