Happy birthday to the Sirens of Southern Ontario pod’s MerMama!

Mum has no tail yet, because there is yet to be a monofin that can accommodate her feet (ladies size 12 is already tough to size, but even the large Mahina doesn’t fit because her feet are also very tall). That doesn’t make her any less a fin-tabulous mermaid!

She began her ascendance to the pod’s MerMama last summer during the SOSO cottage retreat, graciously hosting the meetup and ensuring everyone was welcomed and fed. We can also all blame her for the pod’s terrible addiction to the party game Telestrations After Dark!

Everyone who has met her can attest to her warm and generous heart. She is the most wonderful mother I could have asked for, and we are all incredibly lucky to have her in our lives.

What you have to understand about the mermaid legend is that it's universal. No matter where you go, the mermaids got there first. Even inland, if there's a big enough lake, I guarantee you there's a local community with a story about women in the water with beautiful voices who lure men to their deaths.

Where there's water, we find mermaids. Maybe it's time we started asking ourselves exactly why that is.

I love this tail so much! My Finfolk Mythic is my precious baby, but my Finfun Tiger Lily will always hold a special place in my heart. Another mermaid in my pod loves customizing her tails with fabric paint and was really encouraging me to do the same with my tail. While I agree that giving your tails a personal touch is a great idea... I literally can't fathom what I could do to this tail that would be an improvement?? There's nothing about it I would change!
