A tilt of the head, curiosity etched across the face of the great reptile. He’d never seen a creature such as this; it was captivating. Albeit though his wanderings on the beach had been to find carrion-as the occasional wailord washed ashore-this was a much greater find.
By all accounts the creature seemed human, were it not for his lower half. His baser instinct told him merely to eat the thing, but curiosity decided otherwise.
"Frightful thing, are you not?" He remarked, observing the closed posture and frightened eyes. "Just what manner of being are you?"
He took a breath and forced himself to straighten up as best he could, managing to narrow his eyes in a somewhat-dangerous look that was rendered almost ineffective by the massive dragon's appearance.
"I am not 'frightful.' I am Rhys, son of Nautilus and future King of Mer. What manner of being are you?"
Lorelei honestly thought it was a gyrados until she heard that obviously human cry. She ran towards him, then stopped as she realized what she saw, mouth dropping open a bit. But she saw a thin line of red spilling into the water, and dared to inch closer.
"…You’re hurt…" she murmured, unsure if he would let her any closer to look at it.
He froze and tried to muster up a glare through the pain, but the expression probably looked more pained than any sort of angry. He tried to shift his tail away from her again and gasped under his breath, trying to hide it better this time. His shock had made him forget before, but he wouldn't forget again.
'The strong do not show pain or fear, even on the rare occasions they feel it. Do not let me hear you cry again!'
He watched her warily, forcing his breathing to slow to a calmer pace.
