3 long hours later and I was unlocking the door to mine and Wonwoo’s small but home-like apartment, sighing in content as I finally slipped off my heels and pulled on a pair of fuzzy pyjama socks. The strong smell of spicy beef filled the space that usually smelled like vanilla, bringing my mood up more at the thought of my favourite food.
“Wonwoo, I’m home! I’m just going to change in to some pyjamas then I’ll come help with dinner,” I shouted down the hall as I retreated to the bedroom.
I smiled widely as I caught the sight of Wonwoo’s favourite oversized grey jumper with a note saying ‘wear this, I know it’s your favourite too’ laying on top, I quickly replaced my uncomfortably fitted formal wear for the loose jumper that reached mid-thigh before wiping off my make-up and releasing my hair from its ponytail to reach my maximum level of comfort. Finally I was able to go find Wonwoo but I was stopped at the doorway when a small ball of fluff ran in to my feet.
“Jeon Wonwoo, what is this?” I picked the tiny grey kitten up, secretly melting at how soft and fuzzy it was as it fit perfectly in the palm of one of my hands.
“Uji, you’ve ruined the surprise!” Wonwoo moaned at the tiny kitten, running down the hall with another kitten in his hand that was slightly bigger and brown and white in colour with huge blue eyes.
“Two?” I gasped, looking up at my tall boyfriend, unsure as to whether I should be mad at him or not for bringing home 2 kittens with out telling me. “And did you really name one after Jihoon?”
“Uji is grumpy, he bit me after I called him cute earlier!” Wonwoo took the small animal from my hand, “and this is Sarang, she’s really cuddly!”
The annoyance that I felt for my boyfriend slipped as I watched him become excited and smiley over the 2 small creatures in his arms, his eyes nose scrunching up as his smile became wider. I let out a small huff and poked his nose gently.
“I guess, 2 kittens won’t hurt, I hope you’ve got everything that you need for them though because I don’t have any money to buy them stuff.”
“Yeah, I have enough for all of them!”
I paused briefly, eyeing him suspiciously before walking past him and in to the living room, sure enough there was a cardboard box in the middle of the living space with 7 other kittens in it, all playing together.
“Wonwoo, we can’t have 9 cats, you leave for months and I work long hours at the school! What are we going to do when you go away and I’m working 8 until 8?” I turned towards him in disbelief, watching him put Uji and Sarang back in the box before he took my hands and looked down at me with a slightly worried expression.
“I’ve thought about this! The woman from the adoption centre told me that they’re fine being left alone while we’re at work as long as they have plenty to do and food for the day so I bought a large bag of cat biscuits, I’ve ordered a cat tree that we can put in the hall and they have lots of toys,” Wonwoo pulled me in to a hug, my arms loosely wrapping around his waist as I huffed.
“You’re lucky I love you, and you better have left meat least one to name.”
