The sun was hot, and the deck was lightly speckled with misty seawater. The crew hauled back and forth over the wood, managing ropes and cargo and canvas and each other. A pale ginger sat in what little shade was offered below the main mast, delegated to mending ropes once again. They had only left the docks the morning before, and already she was sick of this damned crew. She’d been plenty excited when the captain accepted her for the crew, and over the moon when he’d added that she wouldn’t be stuck as a shipmaid- no, she wouldn’t get stuck washing sweaty garments and trying to cook with half-rotted food. Instead, she just got the cabin boy jobs. Because obviously that was so much better.

Jack froze upon hearing those words coming from the redhead. His heart pounding, he felt a flush rising to his cheeks as he tried to process what he’d just heard. He never thought he’d hear those words from her. At least not given so openly. He was having a hard time wrapping his mind around the idea. 

Did she really just say that she loved him? Or had he heard her wrong?

“Wh-what?” he finally stuttered out, staring at her.

        in his travels, the sea bandit has wandered to many different lands. he has experienced the extreme heats of africa, the frigid cold of a snow beast, the lush lands of the amazon. now he ventures northward, in search of riches beyond the mediterranean.

       here the earth is lush, everything vivid and green, teeming with life. the air is brisk, not quite freezing, but nowhere near the heat of the middle eastern sun he is accustomed to. a whistle pierces through the air, one of admiration as the pirate turns round and round.
