another comic sans intro because I can’t take anything seriously for the life of me. I apologize. 

This is Memories of Belladonna! I’m gonna focus on this for a while, sorry Tested. I’ll most likely do a more serious intro. and character intros. and start writing it. anyways! I’m so excited!!! My new babey!!!!

It’s more like 8 lines, but I liked the context. Lake is just so fun in this section of MemOB and I really liked that, so that’s the excuse for the very-silly not-serious passage I present you with.

“Well, as a sort of commencement, we’d all like to formally invite you to…” They pause for dramatic effect, to no avail. “Your first Calendula game night!”

I lose focus on my book. “A what?” I ask, looking back up. Lake is doing jazz hands. They see my expression and drop them.

thank you @writingamongthecoloredroses (from a long time ago) and @crystallized-ink for tagging me! I just started writing again after my intro, so please excuse the wait :) (This is also kinda to kick off the MemOB content on my blog too. That’s what everything is going to be now. oops!)

There’s someone waiting at the door for us. She’s learned so casually against the door that you’d think she belonged there. “What took you guys so long?” She asks with a short laugh.

“Some of us don’t wake up at the crack of dawn,” I tell her.

“You think this just happens?” She asks back. I can’t help but roll my eyes. She’s right, of course. Everything about her looks just so together. Her hair, her makeup, her composure. She’s Kennedy Jackson. She’s ethereal.

“I know you won’t listen. I get it,” they grumble. “Just… don’t go around telling people. We don’t want anyone to know you’re going.”

“That’s the plan, idiot.” I scoff. 

“Whatever. Do what you want, I don’t care,” they sigh again. Their defeat feels a little worse than I thought it would. It was emptier than I had expected. I guess that didn’t matter anyways. I had won.

I fling my suitcase onto the only bed in the room. At least I don’t have to share with any of the other Calendula residents. They’re all getting on my nerves already. And Lake… I’m not sure what to do about them. There’s more to them than I think. Their bounciness and bubbliness couldn’t cover how they scanned me. Pinned me down. I can’t tell why that pissed me off. 

Well, I can. They did exactly what would be doing if I wasn’t so annoyed. Pick you apart so you can know what to do with them. Or what they’ll do with you.

“For what?” Lake asks. 

“Standing up to Andrew for me. I was in a really uncomfortable situation, and while you definitely shouldn’t have even been there in the first place, it kinda worked out.”

“A lot of things worked out tonight.”

I roll the crystal in my hands. I hold it close. I can’t help but laugh. 

“I guess they did.”
