Thinking about Grand Duke Wyll Ravenguard, as one does, and about how at the best possible outcome he's agreeing to run the Gate when he: - is still, by technicality, in a devil contract for six months - has an illithid tadpole in his head + his father was just mind controlled for weeks - is friend and allies with (among others) a ex-Shar worshipper, a tiefling, a githyanki, and a vampire, and possibly a Bhaalspawn who's murdered thousands of Baldurans; none of who are super very well-liked by the public - may or may not be betrothed to any one of those people [*Eta: This next part I goofed on as it turns out - he does have a daughter in the epilogue, but I thought that she was specifically a tiefling because she had one gold eye and one brown I re-listened recently and it's one grey eye and one brown, like to match Wyll's prosthetic eye. Which makes it more ambigious what ancestry she has bc tiefs can have grey eyes but so can p. much everyone else My bad! Thus! I'm keeping this in the post as a headcanon instead. - HC: And half a year after he's crowned, the baby girl he adopts is a tiefling (It's just a single line in the epilogue, but I think about political impact of that a lot. Of course Wyll can acquire other kids or name a different new Grand Duke when it's time or L(y)illy can decide she doesn't want to be regent, but in terms of tradition, she's his heir. Every tiefling in Elturel was forced to flee their home or be murdered and twenty or so years later a tiefling is going to be running the largest city-state on the coast) ]
Anyway but so I imagine it like this:
Ulder: I will name you Baldur's Gate's new Grand Duke of the Council. You will be the Heart Of The Gate!
Wyll: Great but everyone will need to get cool with a lot of stuff very quickly
