And remembering the first time I watched it, I screamed at the end because why did you walk out Cary? That was a silly move. And I don’t think that one kiss is gonna get someone out of your head, especially someone like Kalinda.
“I knew a lot of people who weren’t anything until they met Kalinda,” quite possibly could be the best line of the entire series. :)
"I don’t think it was a silly move at all. I think it was the smartest thing he could do (thanks God, writers didn’t turn him into a Lana or a Sophia). Kalinda would have hurted him baddly because it was clear she had no idea what they were doing. It would have beeing more than sex for him and just sex for her.
I think Cary was really looking for Kalinda to show him real feelings, more than sex. “Interest. Concern, friendship……” “You can fake somebody else, but you can’t fake me.” Kalinda was never able to do it and that’s what did hurt him, especially after what he did for her and after he pratically showed to her that istinctively the first thing he wanted to protect wasn’t himself but her (the gunshot thing).
It hurts a lot when you care so much about someone, they KNOW and it’s not reciprocated at all. And even worse when they don’t give a damn about it.
Let’s not forget what his dad did to him. It wasn’t so different from how Kalinda apparently treated him. She always asked for favors but never really showed really concern for him.
Having sex with her wouldn’t have improved things. He’s a really smart guy.
And as for what Cary said about her: he knows her. But you can’t say the same for Kalinda. She knows nothing about Cary. She was never able to see or just interested in finding out more about Cary.
Writers wasted another chance with the Cary’s beaten up to show more of Kalinda’s feelings. We already know she has a soft spot for Alicia. But we were never able to find out if she also gives a damn about Cary and why it was “complicated” with him.
After 4 seasons we can just say she doesn’t give a damn."
I think you misunderstood what I meant by it being a silly move. It was almost a sarcastic comment because I can't really imagine anyone not wanting to get with Kalinda.
Other than that, let's agree to respectfully disagree. I do think Kalinda has shown, as much as she can, that she cares about Cary. It's hard for her to let her guard down and let people in, especially since what happened with the who Alicia finding out about her & Peter situation. Cary doesn't want to get hurt, but on the same token, Kalinda doesn't want to risk hurting Cary, because she truly does care for him. Saying that she doesn't give a damn doesn't make much sense to me...
As for her saying "I have no idea," when Cary asked what they were doing, what was she supposed to say? I don't think either one of them really knew what they were doing, so that was a viable answer, in my opinion. It wouldn't have been "just sex" for Kalinda, honestly, I don't see it being that way. Again, she's afraid to let someone in, so she tries her damnedest not to, because every time she does, it backfires. Personally, it would have make more sense for KALINDA to walk away, rather than Cary - it would have been more characteristic of her. It just made him look a bit hypocritical, thus making it, what I characterized before as a "silly move."
