Okay so seeing all the Bridgerton gifs - I myself have seen the first 4 episodes & my God. Daphne is just...no, honey. No - & just seeing all the love that Penelope is getting...it just makes me tear up, ya know? Because seeing a plus size woman being a romantic focus, without it being seen as some sort of fetish...my God, that is huge.
And yes, personally revolutionary. Even now, as a plus size WOC, guys have stated, "Oh yeah, I like big girls," or "Oh, Latina, I like that, they're great in bed," like I was some sort of sexual fetish. It was, and is, disheartening.
So to see this gorgeous plus size girl, being taken seriously, giving her the sympathy & same treatment that the thin main character gets, it does my heart good.
