🗣 COVID Sessions Cease on 31-Dec 2022 The ‘additional’ COVID-funded sessions meant 20 sessions per calendar year; however, this is due to the change back to the 10 standard sessions under the Better Access Program with Medicare. The Australian Government and Medicare have confirmed that the ‘additional' 10 Better Access sessions granted over COVID will no longer be available after the 31st of December 2022. Clients can be referred for and access these services until the 31st of December 2022. Any unused 'additional' services that Clients have from this will be forfeited. This applies regardless of when the referral for the additional sessions was issued. A new referral consistent with referral requirements for initial Better Access services would be required for Clients to access initial sessions in 2023. We encourage you to speak to your psychologist and request a review letter to be written to your GP to access additional sessions in the new year. A GP letter prepared by your psychologist will be required to access Medicare-funded appointments in NY. This also means that in 2023 you will be able to access the 10 standard sessions by the Better Access under the mental health treatment plan. The 20 standard sessions have been changed since the COVID sessions cease on the 31st of December 2022.
