It's nothing like that, Australia hasn't fallen... in any way shape or form...
Now that the CFMEU has cleared up that it is definitely NOT anti-vax right wing conspiracy nuts, well everything has changed.
This morning, on live TV for hours, we watched a crowd of people walk around and around the Melbourne CBD. Now we were supposed to think they were angry Unionists from the CFMEU. That was doubtful, because, while there was high-vis vests, jackets and shirts by the hundreds, and there were CFMEU hoodies, they didn't all look like tradies. And then there was the list of demands... well the last item on the list of demands about distribution of Vitamins, and Ivermectin that really gave the game away.
Melbourne is really doing it hard right now, and no one can see a clear end, because case numbers, and hospital cases are not declining, and likely won't until vaccinations reach about 70%. Some are angry at Dan Andrews, and some are supporting him.
Meanwhile, today, on Twitter, because of the... protest (??) #FakeTradie has been trending. On Saturday, because of the much rowdier and more violent protests, #AustraliaHasFallen was trending attached to pictures of cute pets, desserts, and fluffy toys, drowning out references to the lockdown.
I love subversion like this.
