a quiet day in the phantomhive household was a rare day, so you and mey-rin definitely weren't going to let the fresh spring afternoon go to waste. with the young master and his butler out of the manor, baldroy and finny off in their own activities, mey-rin had immediately sought you out with an idea in mind on how to spend your time.

"a picnic?" you asked, setting down the book you'd been preoccupied on.

mey-rin, nodding excitedly, held out a hand, desperate to draw you out of the solitude of the library. "c'mon, it's a lovely day out! be a shame to waste it."

"what about our duties?"

"oh, one day without dusted banisters and organized books won't kill the young master—" she grabbed your wrist without further room for protest, causing you to laugh as she giddily pulled you out into the hallway.

"sebastian might!"

"he'll understand!"

and that was how you two ended up outside, lounging on a blanket, lunch devoured and the day blessing you two with a kiss of the lovely spring season. you'd rested your hair in mey-rin lap after eating, cheek tucked against the soft fabric of her dress.

"i quite like spending time with you, you know," she said, a hand settling on your side. "things aren't as drab as they used to be with you around."

"i doubt there was ever a dull day in this house, even before i arrived." you grinned against her dress.

"oh, all right then. now there's a boring day for me with you here." mey-rin, feeling warm and perhaps a little too lovey because of your mere presence, leaned over and bowed her head to kiss your temple.

you stopped her from pulling back initially, your hand moving to the back of her head to redirect a proper kiss on her lips. "well, thank you, dearest, for that darling clarification," you said, grinning.
