The nominees for the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards are in with our pop friends leading the way in nominations, such as Cardi B, Drake, Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes, Post Malone, Maroon 5 and Imagine Dragons, who have all received multiple nominations this year.

For our favorite country stars, Maren Morris leads the pack with four nominations, three of those are outside the country category. Maren is nominated for Country Song of the Year (“Rich”) and overall Song of the Year, Best Collaboration and Dance Song of the Year for her performance of “The Middle” with Zedd and Grey. Carrie Underwood is also nominated and is going against the male dominated category for Country Artist of the Year. She will be vying for the trophy along with Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Luke Combs and Thomas Rhett.

Fans can vote for their favorites starting January 9 through March 7 on Twitter using the appropriate category and nominee hashtags or by visiting iHeartRadio.com/awards.

The 2019 iHeart Music awards will air live on FOX from Los Angeles Thursday, March 14 from 8-10PM EST.

The holiday season is now in full swing which means it’s time to pull out the matching pajamas, fuzzy socks and cozy blankets and celebrate with our favorite Christmas movies. One of the hottest films out this holiday season is the animated remake The Grinch, but if you’re looking for a nostalgic blast from the past, head to Netflix to watch Jim Carey’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas. This fun holiday flick came out in 2000 and stars Jim Carrey as the grumpy old Grinch whose heart slowly becomes a little bit warmer with the help of young Cindy Lou Who and a bit of Christmas magic. This seussical story will warm your heart and is the perfect family film to snuggle up with alongside some chocolatey mugs of hot cocoa.

Love Actually - (2003)

Not in the mood for an animated flick, check out Love Actually on Netflix instead. This 2003 romance is comprised of a stellar cast and is nine intertwined stories that examine the complexities of love. A few of the stories explored include David (Hugh Grant), the handsome newly elected British prime minister who falls for a young junior staffer (Martine McCutcheon), Sarah (Laura Linney), a graphic designer whose devotion to her mentally ill brother complicates her love life, and Harry (Alan Rickman), a married man tempted by his attractive new secretary.

While it may not be age appropriate for all the members of your family, it’s a beautiful story of love that many will find heartwarming this holiday season.

The Holiday Calendar - (2018)

Last in our selection of Netflix movies to stream is a new holiday flick that we can’t stop obsessing over. This film tells the story of an up and coming photographer that inherits a magical Christmas calendar that seems to predict the future. Leading lady Kat Graham, known for her role on the hit series  The Vampire Diaries, navigates her way through the holiday season in hopes of kick-starting her career and maybe even finding love along the way. This TV-PG film is perfect for a girls night in, date night, or a movie marathon with the kids.

A Christmas Story - (1983)

In the mood for a good laugh and some classic family fun? Hulu is the perfect platform for all your favorite old time Christmas classics. A Christmas Story follows a young boy, Ralphie, as he tries to convince all of the adults in his life that a BB gun is the perfect Christmas present! This movie really reminds us of childhood and that magical feeling of waking up on Christmas morning to see what Santa delivered. Check out the trailer below!

Mickey’s Christmas Carol - (1983)

Speaking of old fashioned movies, who doesn’t love a good Mickey Mouse film? Mickey’s Christmas Carol is an adaptation of the Charles Dickens masterpiece, A Christmas Carol. The film finds all your favorite characters embodying the roles of the old miser Scrooge, his kind clerk Bob Cratchit and a whole slew of famous faces taking on this timeless tale. Want to introduce the kids to a Dickens masterpiece? This is the perfect flick for you!

It’s Christmas Again, Charlie Brown - (1992)

And of course, it wouldn’t be Christmas without Charlie Brown! This 1992 TV Movie follows the whole peanuts gang as they raise money for gifts, keep Snoopy out of trouble, all the while rehearsing and memorizing lines for the Christmas pageant. This is a fun continuation of a Christmas classic that you and your family will enjoy for years to come!

Home Alone - (1990)

Being alone for the Holidays is never fun, but 8 year Kevin McCallister sure makes a challenging time of protecting the house from burglars look like an easy game. This holiday favorite turns a crazy situation into a funny tale full of make-shift booby traps and creative tricks! Home Alone is available on Amazon Prime and is definitely one of our favorites.

The Santa Clause - (1994)

Speaking of childhood, we absolutely love Tim Allen in The Santa Clause. This adorable film tells the story of divorced dad Scott Calvin (Tim Allen) who has custody of his son (Eric Lloyd) on Christmas Eve. After he accidentally knocks a man in a Santa suit off his roof, they are magically transported to the North Pole, where an elf explains that Scott must take Santa's place before the next Christmas arrives. Though Scott thinks he's dreaming, over the next several months he begins to take on the appearance of the big man and can't deny something magical has taken over.

The Holiday - (2006)

In the mood for something a bit more modern? You can stream The Holiday on Amazon Prime. This romantic-comedy stars Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz as they switch places in an effort to escape their guy-problems during the holiday season. The two women end up loving the swap, finding themselves and of course falling in love again with new people! Make sure to stream this flick for your next girls night in and don’t forget the wine and hot cocoa!

HBO GO 

A Christmas Carol - (2009)

Another Jim Carrey classic (as well as remake of a timeless classic) is A Christmas Carol! This 2009 picture is an animated version of the classic Charles Dickens victorian-era tale. In this story, Scrooge is confronted by evil spirits and faced with the fact that he has made mistakes in his life. He has to choose to either face death or redemption. Though this sounds heavy, this film is a family favorite and great to get in the holiday spirit.

Four Christmases - (2008)

Last but not least on our list of fun holiday movies is Four Christmases. This rom-com follows Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn as they attempt to attend four Christmases (of their divorced parents!). Full of laughs, family revelations and romance, this is a film that should be on your holiday rotation this Christmas!

This past year has been full of amazing shows and festivals and we decided to see which ones were your top favorites of 2018! Check out the highlights below and relive the best moments from three of this year’s most epic festivals.

1. Seven Peaks Festival 

Dierks Bentley partnered with Live Nation this past summer, to launch the inaugural Seven Peaks Music Festival. Set against the scenic mountain view of Buena Vista, Colorado, fans traveled from all over the world, coming together for three days of one of the most-uniquely curated festival lineups this year.

"It’s going to take a few days, maybe weeks, for me to process that Seven Peaks actually happened, and happened at the highest possible level,” said Bentley in a statement. "Everything about this journey was so special, from the initial seed of an idea, to the last song sung on Sunday night. I couldn’t be more proud of the team that came together to create this, and the fans that adopted the festival so quickly and easily, and have made it their own. 2. Windy City LakeShake Festival 

After a long windy winter, Chicago opened itself up for a scorching summer and even hotter talent. And what better way is there to celebrate summer than with good food, friends and country music! On June 22-24, Chicago hosted one of the biggest country music festivals of the summer, LakeShake, and fans from all over crowded the Huntington Bank Pavillion and the surrounding area to see all of their favorite artists!

The 4th annual LakeShake festival included a variety of country stars, such as Blake Shelton, LANCO, Dierks Bentley, Florida Georgia Line and RaeLynn. LakeShake was also the perfect festival to check out up and coming acts such as Jillian Jacqueline.

3. iHeartCountry Festival

For the fifth year in a row, country’s biggest stars came to the iHeartCountry Festival to impress a wide variety of country fans.

Taking top billing this year was Luke Bryan, Maren Morris, Keith Urban and Sugarland. The festival, sponsored exclusively by AT&T, took place at Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas. Dustin Lynch, Cole Swindell, Luke Combs, Billy Currington, Dan + Shay, Jon Pardi and Brett Young were also on the bill.

The line-up featured a stellar mix of some of country music's established acts in Bryan and Urban, while also showcasing the new talent coming out of Nashville in artists like Luke Combs and Brett Young. iHeart's own, fan-favorite radio DJ, Bobby Bones, hosted the show. The festival's benefiting charity this year was St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, which has had a longtime standing partnership with the country music community and continues to be the beneficiary of many various events throughout the year.

“What makes this Festival special is that it is the one night the A-list of Country Music comes together to perform live, collaborate with friends and spend time together as a family," said John Sykes, President of Entertainment Enterprises for iHeart Media told Variety exclusively of the announce. “Everyone stays to support each other until the last band has walked off stage."

After a two night season finale, The Voice coach Kelly Clarkson and her contestant Chevel Shepherd claimed the crown for season 15! It’s that time of year again! The time when country stars and fans come together to celebrate the best of the best. With the 52nd annual Country Music Awards right around the corner, we wanted to take a look back at some of the events most memorable moments. From Dolly Parton accepting her Entertainer Of The Year award from the iconic Johnny Cash to Shania Twain’s performance of  “Any Man Of Mine,” the CMA Awards have always packed quite the musical punch!

1) When Loretta Lynn became the first female artist to win Entertainer Of The Year

The name Loretta Lynn immediately has star power in the country music world, and the CMA’s truly helped make this possible. The young country singer from Kentucky began making music in the 1950’s-1960’s but it took a long time before the genre would fully recognize her success. In 1972, Lynn became the first female artist to win the title of Entertainer Of The Year with her 18th studio album Here I Am Again. 2) The 2003 Johnny Cash Tribute

Another one of country music’s biggest names is of course Johnny Cash. We loved seeing the icon at countless CMA Awards, but one of the most impactful performances came after he passed away. In 2003, many of the biggest names in country music came together to honor the music Cash had left behind and to help honor and celebrate his life. The tribute performance brought us all to tears!

3) When Dolly Parton accepted her Entertainer Of The Year Award from Johnny Cash 

Speaking of Johnny Cash, we loved watching Dolly Parton accept her award for Entertainer Of The Year from Johnny Cash in 1978. In classic Dolly style, she had a bit of a wardrobe malfunction but managed to laugh it off and thank her fans with charm and grace. “My Daddy said that’s what I get for putting 50 pounds of mud in a five-pound bag,” Dolly Parton quipped while accepting the Entertainer of the Year award at the 1978 CMAs. Neither Cash or Ronnie Milsap seemed to quite know what to say to that! Thankfully, Parton was able to borrow a jacket to hold in front of her torn dress.

4) Taylor Swift  became the youngest performer to win Entertainer Of The Year in 2009

Like the direction of pop country or not, we all have to tip a hat and pay some respect to Taylor Swift for becoming the youngest artist to ever win Entertainer of The Year with her song “Fifteen.” This adorable up-and-coming star truly made a name for herself and quickly rose to be one of the biggest names in both country and pop music. Young Swift was so sweet and graceful while accepting the award, making us love her even more than we already did!

5) When John Denver won in 1975

We all know John Denver and love how he took the country world by storm by incorporating elements of folk music into his songs. In 1975, Denver took the prize for Entertainer Of The Year, but he wasn’t even there to see it. The young artist was in Australia at the time and had to watch this firey welcome from afar! Charlie Rich was the announcer at the time, and took it upon himself to literally burn the card that said John Denver had won the award. We still aren’t sure why such controversial measures were taken, some same Rich was upset about the way country music was moving, but lucky for us, the world still recognized Denver for the incredible artist he was!

6) Keith Urban’s performance of “Female” in 2017 

In the height of the #MeToo era, it was heartwarming to see the country music community hopping on board to support all the amazing women in the industry. Keith Urban’s stripped down performance of his single “Female” was simple yet extremely powerful. His lyrics stand strong on their own, making it easy for him to just take the stage with just a guitar in hand.

7) Shania Twain’s performance of “Any Man Of Mine”

Back in 1995, Canadian country singer Shania Twain pushed boundaries with her unique brand of pop country. To help showcase her fresh style, the singer performed during the CMA Awards wearing a sequined black jumpsuit and sitting on the laps of country music legends in the audience! She rocked her performance of “Any Man Of Mine” and then took home the Entertainer Of The Year Award, making her the first woman to claim this title in 13 years!

8) Reba McEntire’s famous plunging red dress 

Although we love Shania Twain’s sexy performance, she wasn’t the first woman to push the fashion envelop on the CMA stage. Back in 1993, Reba took the stage and although fans were blown away by her vocal performance, they were even more blown away by the plunging neckline on her sequined red dress! When talking about the dress, the singer has stated, “Daddy looked at me and said, ‘Reba, did you have your dress on backward?’” Though McEntire did not take home an award that year, fans will always remember the 1993 awards as the year of Reba McEntire red dress!

9) Brad Paisley’s accidental gender reveal 

Speaking of scandals, in 2014, Brad Paisley accidentally made a joke that revealed the gender of Carrie Underwood’s baby to the world! Before taking the stage, Underwood had told Paisley the gender, and then in front of millions of viewers Paisley joked, "You could name him Garth!," letting the world know that yes, the singer was expecting a baby boy. Though it wasn’t exactly the reveal Underwood was hoping for, she laughed it off and handled it with grace.

10) Carrie Underwood’s amazing outfits for the 2017 awards! 

During the show, Carrie Underwood wore a total of 11 different outfits and looked absolutely stunning in all of them. The star even embodied a bit of Dolly Parton’s style in a sequined gold sparkle outfit and matching cape. Check out some of our favorite outfits below.  

11) Alan Jackson pays tribute to George Jones by singing “Choices” in 1999

The CMA’s can be a time to reflect on important members of the country family and pay tribute to some of the genre’s most iconic members. In 1999, Alan Jackson did just that, by changing his set list to include George Jones’ beloved song “Choices.” The performance had audience members on their feet in ovation afterwards and we can’t stop watching the performance on repeat.

12) Luke Bryans performance of “Drink A Beer” in 2013

Though Bryan did not write the lyrics, he has stated that he has a special connection to his song “Drink A Beer.” For Bryan, the song is a tribute to his brother and sister who both passed away. During his CMA performance, Bryan sat on a stool and sang a stripped down version, holding it together until the end when he gave way to his emotions a bit in memory of his lost siblings. This powerful performance left fans in awe.

Keith Urban and rapper Post Malone may seem like an unlikely duo, but leave it to the powers of Elvis to make such a collaboration come to life.

Urban recently revealed to E! News that the two “had a blast” partnering on a song for the upcoming Elvis special that will debut in January 2019. The country star also said, “he’s the real deal. He’s so eclectic, so steeped in all kinds of music, I love him.”

The collaboration is all part of the The 50th Anniversary of the Elvis Comeback Special, celebrating the legendary 1968 performance on NBC where Elvis Presley returned to live television. The two-hour broadcast will be hosted by Elvis’ only daughter, Lisa Marie Presley and her daughter Riley Keough. Other artists contributing to the special are Shawn Mendes, Blake Shelton, Darius Rucker, Little Big Town, Adam Lambert, Dierks Bentley, the Pistol Annies, John Fogerty, Jennifer Lopez, Carrie Underwood, Ed Sheeran, John Legend, Alessia Cara and Yolanda Adams.

As far as pop and country collaborations go, Post Malone and Keith Urban aren’t the only duo making announces as of late. Kane Brown and EDM producer Marshmello declared on Thanksgiving they’ll release a track in the new year.

With both artists on the top of the charts lately – namely Marshmello for “Happier” with Bastille, and Brown for “Lose It,” we have no doubt the upcoming single will get major radio play.

And the nominations are in! The 2018 American Music Awards nominations were announced live from YouTube Space L.A. by artists Kane Brown, Ella Mai, Normani and Bebe Rexha. 

Country nominees include Dan + Shay, who are nominated for both Favorite Duo or Group – Country and Favorite Song – Country (“Tequila”), and couldn't be more excited about the honor. “What a year 2018 continues to be for us, and we’re so excited to celebrate our first American Music Awards with two nominations!” Smyers said. “Thanks to all the fans – it’s because of you!”

If you’ve ever planned on heading to Nashville, Tennessee and wondered what it would be like to have someone show you around to all the hot spots, wonder no more! The Country Music Capital of the World boasts many sights, sounds and southern comfort dining, leaving you satisfied from the stomach to the soul. 

Ready for your trip to Music City? Here’s a hearty overview of the town, sprinkling in both new and old favorites (some of which are sometimes overlooked).

1) The Texas Troubadour Theatre

The theatre is named for one of country music’s most iconic classic artists, Ernest Tubb (also known as the “Texas Troubadour”). You’ll find it in the historic “Music Valley Village” area off the pedal-tavern-beaten-path of downtown Nashville on Music Valley Drive, with mainstays such as the Grand Ole Opry House, The Gaylord Opryland Resort and The Nashville Palace only a short distance away. This prestigious venue is built to welcome at least 400 people to its pews and is home to numerous musical events including the unique worship of Nashville Cowboy Church every Sunday morning.

But before Sunday morning, there’s Saturday night... and with it is the must-attend music hour of the Midnite Jamboree. Having been on the broadcast airwaves since May of 1947, the Jamboree is the second-longest running radio show in history (second only to the Grand Ole Opry)! A different guest performer plays every Saturday night at 10PM in the theatre and the public is always invited to watch...for FREE!

And akin to Opry tradition, there is an announcer for each show (usually a WSM air personality) who stands behind a podium to give details of music available for purchase. The show is then broadcast at midnight the same evening on the legendary 650 AM-WSM (home to the Opry); so you might even hear yourself on the radio. David Ball, Collin Raye, “bluegrass queen” Rhonda Vincent, Riders in the Sky (an Opry favorite), Mark Wills, John Conlee, Jeannie Seely and many more notables have graced the Troubadour’s stage to join in the Jamboree. Concessions are available and the parking is free.

2) The Tacky Turtle

Located next to and adjoining the Troubadour Theatre is The Tacky Turtle. Actually, this shop offers just the right amount of tackiness – featuring eclectic home décor and souvenir items from over 30 vendors, a small selection of CD’s from featured artists and some unbelievably tasty cinnamon rolls. Ernest Tubb’s tour bus from the years of 1970-1979 is on display here and open for free walk-throughs. There is also live music several nights a week and the employees are always very welcoming. 3) The Nashville Palace

The Palace is a great place to soak in the music scene. You’ll likely be greeted with live music immediately upon entry, because the venue offers separate stage areas. The first room has various bands playing throughout the day and typically it’s free to enjoy. Meanwhile, the dancehall feel of the main space (where lots of larger concerts take place) and restaurant/bar makes it appealing to many visitors and offers up a rich history (some of which still adorns its walls). A big claim to fame for the Palace is that Randy Travis once worked there as a cook.

Locals Tip: If you’re in the market for the music but the Palace is a little too full of “royal subjects” you might want to wander across the street and give The Music City Bar and Grill a go. They offer free live music from exceptional artists 7 days a week and their kitchen is open until 2:30AM.

4) The Ernest Tubb Record Shop

Give your regards to Broadway: Downtown’s “honkytonk row” of Broadway is no stranger to the fame. In recent years numerous music stars have built up the street with their namesake multiple-story bars. And it’s the home of historic honky-tonk Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge. However, it’s also home to the Ernest Tubb Record Shop. Established in 1947, the shop’s sign boasts “real country music lives here,” you can still visit the vintage store’s only remaining location and walk the floor among their one-of-a-kind selection of vinyl, souvenirs, books, songbooks and more.

5) Mike’s Ice Cream and Coffee Bar

Just a few doors down from The Ernest Tubb Record Shop is a true cherry on top. Mike’s Ice Cream and Coffee Bar is a staple sweet spot for anyone looking to cool off and re-energize before taking on more Music City entertainment. Nashville “hot chicken” may often steal the spotlight in the city’s featured foods department and with good reason, but when it comes to tastes that never go out of style, Mike’s is a safe bet. Open until at least 11PM every night (midnight in the summer season and on Fridays and Saturdays otherwise), the menu features homemade ice cream plus an impressive variety of homemade fountain sodas, milkshakes, and a wide selection of hot, iced and frozen gourmet espresso and coffee drinks.

6) The Ryman Auditorium

Time for church! The famed so-called “Mother Church” of country music has and continues to host many a sell-out shows within its stained-glass auditorium walls. Still, there’s more for you to know. For example, posters autographed by performers who’ve played the Ryman are on display in the Hatch Show Print Galleryon the second floor of the auditorium. From show slots boasting acts from everyone to comedians to awards shows and in-between, it’s the original home of the Grand Ole Opry and today takes that history to a new level with tours, a gift shop, and its own cafe (Cafe’ Lula, named to honor a longtime Ryman manager) which is usually open later on show nights.

But the Ryman fun doesn’t end there. Some true music to the ears of the secret singer inside of you might be that (for an extra fee) the Ryman provides the chance to record your own song at their in-house recording studio! Choose from a list of 19 special songs including classics like Conway Twitty’s “Hello Darlin’” or record your own original music. Some instruments are allowed, too; plus the studio will provide an in-house acoustic guitar.

7) The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum

Trek on down the road from the Ryman and you can’t help but to see and hear the illustrious call of the Hall, where you’ll be surrounded by everything gone country of both past and present. Called “the Smithsonian of the country music world”; songwriter sessions happen regularly here. Exhibits showcase one-of-a-kind letters, albums, instruments, sheet music and costumes of iconic country music names including The Judds and artists of the outlaw movement of the ‘70s featured in the “Outlaws and Armadillos” exhibit. Artists from the likes of Miranda Lambert to the inimitable Oak Ridge Boys play sold-out shows at the Hall’s theater. You can even make it up to Music Row if you book a tour of historic RCA Studio B as part of your museum visit, which you can do HERE if you’re interested!

8) The Commodore Grille

Speaking of songwriters, word is there’s plenty of that going around in Music City. Unfortunately, the crowds at a lot of tune-smith scenes (particularly a colorful little cafe whose name rhymes with “Schmoobird”) are almost always at capacity. For some genuinely good food AND genuinely good original tunes, it would do your soul good and well to stop by The Commodore Grille (located inside of the Holiday Inn on West End Avenue, close to Vanderbilt University). Pick up your mood and maybe a slice or two of their delicious Southern Pecan Pie. No reservations requiredand the parking is free.

9) Fontanel Mansion

Formerly owned by ground-breaking classic country songstress Barbara Mandrell, this Whites Creek Pike site is definitely a fine one for sore eyes. It’s a bit off the beaten path of downtown and offers a luxurious hotel stay surrounded by beautiful views. There are zip lines and happy trails. You’ll see trees of green...maybe red roses too. Still, it’s just close enough to Nashville to where sometimes the beat goes on – especially on show nights! The Woods at the Fontanel amphitheater provides an ideal setup for some big-name all-out raucous concerts. It’s a wonderful (wooded) world.

10 ) Mewsic Kitty Cafe/Nashville Zoo at Grassmere

Last, but certainly not least. Mewsic Kitty Cafe is a must-visit if you pre-furr some cat action where you can cozy up with all the kitties. Featuring tea, coffee from local roasters Bongo Java and specialty pastries, spend some time taking in the view of the adoptable four-footed furry residents who strut around like they own this place.

The adoptable “headliners” (as the cafe calls them) have fun names such as Tim McClaw, Mewcinda Williams, Joni Meowtchill, Feline Dion and Emmylou Hair-is. It’s got cat class and it’s got cat style with décor that truly says “mewsic” city to the core. Reservations are recommended. Check out the cat-tastic cafe HERE!

Now, speaking of Nashville cats: Another local destination where cats of bigger varieties roam is The Nashville Zoo at Grassmere. Meerkats, cougars and clouded leopards call the zoo home, as do many other special species including Andean bears, white rhinos, kangaroos, red pandas, giraffes, tapirs, and so many more to explore. Feed the lorikeets in Lorikeet Landing or take a slow stroll with the tortoises at the zoo’s Shell Station. There are keeper talks, animal shows, and so many special events (some musically-focused). Locals Tip: Animals not your thing? If you’re a sports fan, remember Nashville has hockey – so if you’re into sliding pucks and such then be sure to check out the Nashville Predators at the Bridgestone Arena. And also be sure to take plenty of pictures of Gnash, the Predators’ proud sabertooth tiger ambassador (AKA mascot). Gnash is quite a character - often going the extra mile to show off his toothy smile and finding inventive ways to stay active outside of the ice, including on social media. Goal achieved!
