I will now attempt to explain why the Arkfall happened, what is “Arkrise”, these two event’s relationship to the Kaziri and how it all links in with the town of Defiance.

The Kaziri was sent out from Votanis around the same time as the rest of the fleet, only it was sort of a super ship, like an aircraft carrier and the rest of the Arks were paddle boats. We also know that the Arks were guided by super-advanced AIs that allowed the Votan people to not worry about course corrections or the like. The Kaziri was the original terraformer, designed to prepare a world that had all the characteristics of the four Votan worlds, and the Arks had terraspheres only in the event the Kaziri failed to prepare Earth for the main fleet, which it obviously did when the two Irathients cut the AIs and crashed the ship into what would become St. Louis in about 1500 years.

Fast forward to the Pale Wars, January 5, 2030. The Earth Military Coalition launched an attack on the Ark fleet, expecting to be able to cripple the Votans, breaking their spirit and allowing for an easy win, and perhaps sending the survivors to another system in what’s left of the Ark fleet when it’s all over. But, they didn’t know that the Arks were programmed to defend Votan life. This meant the Arks willingly self destructed, making a necessary sacrifice for what they knew was to protect the Votan survivors on planet. The self destruction of thousands of Arks unleashed various affects beyond the mere changing of surface terrain. It converted the atmosphere into another layer of interfering radiation, cutting off cellphone and internet. The magnetic field altered, getting stronger and more reactive. But the biggest change is was in the faults. New faults formed, old ones changed. Earth’s geology was the most affected.

When “Irzu” tell Irisa that Arkrise is coming, she does not mean the Ark fleet will magically repair and perhaps un-terraform the planet. The Arks have either been destroyed, rendered dead or used to build the new cities on Earth. No, she’s referring to the Kaziri will rise back up, which makes for an issue because the Kaziri is a ship many times larger than Defiance, and it’s directly beneath it, deep in the gulanite mines. That’s what Irisa jumped into in the first season finale, the core of the Kaziri.

Where this will lead and what it means for Defiance, I do not know. But that is my theory for the Arkfall, Arkrise and the Kaziri.
