Gerald Meerschaert can only beat you if you’re an awful athlete (Eric Spicely) or if you play his game consistently. Giles played his game. He kept playing and eventually he lost. Meerschaert is a sub wiz, gets ONE opportunity on the neck and snags it. He forces Giles to shoot for a TD in a scramble, snags the neck even tighter and gets the tap. Herb misses it so Gerald just puts Giles to sleep. Big time snafu by Herb Dean as Giles taps in the ONE spot he can’t see from his vantage point.

If you missed that one, you just missed a fucking wild middleweight slopfest. Gerald Meerschaert is one of those dudes who you just have to see fight every time he's on a card. He gets taken down, mounted, gives up his neck for a rear naked and nearly got subbed. He also got dropped once and wobbled a different time as well in that round. Meerschaert recovers, fights his way back into the end of the round and found a home for some seriously good body work. Both guys swang and bang in the second round but Meerschaert just absolutely RAN right through Oskar Piechota's lack of cardio and defense on the floor. Piechota moves really well for a big man but on the feet, Gerald Meerschaert was able to take advantage of his willingness to give up space and rest on the fence. Holy shit those elbows from Meerschaert on the feet and on the ground were just absolutely violent. What a war and a half.
