I met a sage lady in the supermarket today. She was admiring my children “Oh there’s another little one in there” peering into the stroller “you must be very busy” she said, giving me that knowing and understanding ‘eye hug’, “Yes” I relied “I am” Which is true. The mental fatigue of being constantly responsible for 3 dependant human brings is exhausting. I grieve my ore--children life of relaxing quietly in the garden/persuing my hobbies/travelling... These last few days have seemed particularly hard. My 2 eldest who normally get along like a house on fire have been bickering non-stop; attention-seeking behaviour from the eldest; goading from the middle one; demands by the youngest one. It’s been A LOT “I know how you feel dear. I had 6 - 5 boys - a farm & a house in the city. I know about being busy!” “Tell me your secrets. How do you stay sane through it all. Tell me how you did it” I say to her, sort of earnestly pleading; sort of in awe. “There’s no secret. You just keep going. I’m 88 now; I survived!” Thank you sage lady. P.a.
