sixth piece in the series ive been posting about here.
i got the idea for this image from a tiny detail in a french medieval book of hours (thatโs like a very illustrated prayer book someone wealthy would commission). long story short, i find the idea of the gap between the โfolk religionโ and the โofficial theologicalโ conception of God, when it exists, to be extremely interesting. i thought this was a perfect manifestation of that: doctrinally, in most views, of course God is not literally an old man with a huge beard, but for some reason we on the ground level canโt help but imagine him that way.
