FEBWHUMP DAY 13: AGAIN
From my OC Medwhump fic: Between Alives: Surviving One Death At a Time
CW: seizure, death, hospital, pain
JOHN
My head became dizzy and my chest ached, “Lee, just let me go. I’m sorry.” I told him. I knew what was coming. My chest jerked harder than it had before, and then I was gone.
I felt repetitive pushing on my chest. I wasn’t helping this time I wasn’t fighting. I hoped they would fail. I ruined my sister’s life. Now she was a different person, a person who would kill me being around her. What was the point of living? I felt the pushing stop. Good. Call it.
I woke up again. “No! God damn it! Let me die already!” I yelled out loud. I had no idea how much time passed. I didn’t know who was around me. I didn’t care. I wanted to be gone. I didn’t want to be awake. I didn’t want to be alive anymore. I was fucking tired of trying to live.
I ripped the oxygen from my face. I pulled off the heart monitor leads. I wanted to rip out the IV from my arm but it was in my good arm. A gentle hand grabbed the hand tearing everything off my body and held it. I tried to do it with my other arm but I still couldn't move it. I jerked my hand from whoever was holding it and brought it to my face. I was going to rip it out with my fucking teeth if I had to. If it didn’t work, maybe all the thrashing would finally stop my heart. A stronger arm held my hand. They didn’t force it down, just held it with more strength than I had to fight back.
My body rocked as it tried to calm down. I realized I couldn’t hear voices. Maybe I was dead. Thank God. Or I had gone completely deaf and couldn’t hear people being upset anymore. Good. Either way, I wanted to check out, so I did.

Just wanted to share this ridiculous scene from my OC fic. I laughed writing it. I didn’t intentionally turn him into a bro.
CW: cussing, med whump, hospital
Context: Mike is John’s neurologist and Craig and Dan’s cousin. Craig and Dan are twin cops who used to be military. Lee is John’s family friend. Jim is his brother-in-law.
John is post-stroke, with little movement on his left side, hence the braces
JOHN
I was going to some sort of therapy all day, every day for a week. I was out of ICU and not doing half bad. I had just woken up after physical therapy kicked my ass a little, when all the guys came in and I mean all of them, Mike included, except dad, I noticed. Jim put my hearing aids in. They brought my favorite clothes and got me dressed. They put on the portable heart monitor and my arm and leg braces; and then they told me to go to the bathroom and make myself “look pretty” as Jim put it.
When I was done, someone grabbed my crutch while someone else sat me in a wheelchair.
“I can walk, well limp, you know?” I asked.
“Not as fast as us.” Dan retorted, pushing the chair quickly through the halls.
I looked up at Lee. He had the black backpack and a huge smile on his face. He was almost giggling. What the hell did I get myself into?
They pushed me through the hospital main doors. “Quick, before they catch us.” Mike said, laughing.
“What in the hell?” I asked as they picked my body up out of the chair and put me into an suv.
They all jumped in, leaving the chair at the curb. Lee buckled me in right before Dan got into the driver’s seat and we sped off. I stared at them dumbfounded. My heart was going a little fast but in a good way. Mike pulled out his stethoscope and checked my heart and lungs. “All good. See? I told you I would.” He told Craig, tapping his shoulder as he rode passenger in the front with his twin. Lee sat next to me, still smiling, way too big. Jim was in the third row behind us, texting someone.
“Um, what is happening?” I asked again.
“It’s Game two, man. You already missed the first one.” Jim said from behind me.
“What are you talking about? It’s not even being played here.”
“Not live; but they are playing it at Dugout Drinkery.”
“What?” I was so confused. “Are you kidding?”
“Nope.” Mike said excitedly. “I told the nurse manager that Lee and I would be with you. She told us she would come check on you first but it could take an hour or more. So we kidnapped you. Now we won’t miss the first pitch.” He was laughing so hard, I thought he was going to need a catheter.
“My buddy got us a private room.” Dan said from the front. “He led the day we saved your ass. He said thanks for giving him the time of his life.” Then Dan was laughing like a lunatic.
“I’m not even going to be able to hear you guys.”
“Yes. Yes, you will.” Lee said, pulling out a tiny stick. “While you were sleeping, we had this paired to your hearing aids. Point it at whoever or whatever you want to hear and it will go straight to your hearing aids. “ These fucking guys thought of everything. “I also have all your meds, so you should be good for the day.” He put his arm around me and squeezed.
Dan pulled up to the curb of the sports bar. Craig got out and Jim jumped out from the fucking tailgate. Mike hopped out, put his arm through my left while Lee handed me my crutch. We barely escaped the lunatic in the driver's seat when he shouted, “Be right in!” Before peeling out.
