Deep hues fixated upon the jagged slash that marred the enriched complexion of her shin with stark crimson, slender palms unsurprisingly delicate within their motions as he worked at using a piece of cloth he’d torn from the bottom of his shirt to stop the bleeding (the makeshift rag dampened by the limited water he had in his canteen), Glenn actively ignored the young woman’s statement as each syllable rattled through honed senses; a subtle crease of brows his only initial response. Silence engulfed them for a cluster of elongated seconds, only occasionally interjected by a rustle of nearby leaves as a gentle breeze rolled through their surroundings; the skilled runner’s work swift and effective as the bloodied segment of attire was cast aside and a new strip was torn from his shirt, him wrapping the thin fabric around her toned limb to eliminate exposure, booted feet shuffling as his crouched position wreaked havoc with aching knees. “That’s what they all say, until that scratch gets infected. I don’t know about you, but I wasn’t about to take that risk.”
