Meccha Matcha
2000 Murray Ave, Pittsburgh PA 15217
$6.00
A pleasant matcha. Grassy and smooth, probably not my all-time favorite iced matcha tea, but I enjoyed it greatly on an unusually warm spring evening.
The employees were eager to explain that they used organic ceremonial grade matcha, but not the specific brand or when the package was opened. I saw them using a pitcher of drinking water for the matcha, so I know the leaves weren’t scorched, and the barista used a milk frother. Very solid brewing method. The taste was bright and smooth, very fresh and springlike.
The color is vivid and dark, exactly how it should be. Honestly I don’t have much else to say about it except that since it’s so close to so many other really good matcha options I had never tried it before. Glad I finally did! I still have to see how it compares to the rest of Squirrel Hill.
