an ODD text to send to a practical stranger, she thought, a barely recognizable number illuminating off a clean screen as teeth tug ever so slightly at the meat of one’s lower lip ( a habit that hadn’t yet been noticed ), mental debate ruling in favor of a thought most traveled in the end.

after the FIFTH vibration against her thigh enough had been enough for a text to be formed- phone carefully && effectively snuck, && tucked between the desk && her lap as mr. thomas’ back stayed clear in her view.  it was surely a MISTAKE, though matt a formidable prankster in par with hannah, could surely could step up his game a notch, && come up with something more than just a few missed call during class.  yet somehow, just as her thumb hovers over send, HE had beaten her to the punch, a slew of apologies buzzing ‘long her palm over && over in his realization.  it is what causes something of a lopsided- if not amused grin && a roll of the eyes to lean her back against the chair that only squeaks in retaliation.  he had won this round.

it was a shot in the dark past bedtime thought that often kept her up at night because no one else was talking.  thrown under the rug && pushed aside a tragedy such as this needed more air than ever rather the dust of regrets that continued to be swept up && abandoned.  she hadn’t known why she messaged him first- of all else anyhow.  perhaps it was because he, an athlete stuck in a different squad than her, carried separate insight than what she had been observing those past few months, or perhaps it was because sam genuinely LIKED matt because he was more than just some overzealous jock, or maybe it all boiled down to the fact that it was because they were so similar in a way- she doesn’t take much time to ponder nonetheless, rejecting the formed statement just as quickly as it had come.

a vocalized groan in impending doom, it would be a DISASTER she was sure, the old rag tag team ( missing two ) coming back together now carrying new vices && petty drama.  she could feel it on her back, && taste the bitterness on her tongue.  she barley wanted to go to the lodge anyhow- only doing so for josh.

just like a packing mule, she thought, speculation above all else taking over seeing as how sam had watched the small had-been duo of emily && jess snap && bite at one another like territorial animals nipping in the dark over what sthe blonde deemed to be pure idiocy.  though she digresses, features scrunching before conscious thought comes && racks reason.  better not to say anything, none of her business in the end.  hell, maybe he secretly liked it or something.

perhaps it wasn’t her place to say, perhaps this was, in a way, some form of a self induced pat on the back for the night- she doesn’t know.  she’s tired, desperately sore, confused, frightened, angry- EVERYTHING is coming back at full force && she’s still questioning how safe this all is despite the bandages && new faces just digging && digging && digging with questions && looks of speculation && disbelief, && summing up HER night, summing up THEIR night as a manifested form of their guilt introducing themselves as demons of another life.

or perhaps she wanted proof from an outside source that she isn’t going fucking insane.

{{ i don’t think that chris was a very good friend to josh. at least, not in the year between pranks, which may have to do with josh (most likely) pushing his friends away. like, i think after a point, chris just stopped putting effort into his friendship with josh, and started spending more time with ashley, who was easier to talk to (and he has a canonical crush on, so. there’s that).

{{ there’s also the scene just after the seance where chris is like “nah he’ll be fine” so that’s. Yikes.

{{ chris cares, i think that, but i don’t think he put in as much as he could’ve. and i think that, in an au postgame reunion sort of thing with josh, there’d have to be effort on both parts to reconcile.

( After the events of the game the gang SUITS UP and become scary demon hunters because they’ve been thrown this far into the fray of mythical monsters they might as well get on with it. Also wendiJosh is, unfortunately, a thing and their main aim is to find a way to cure/help him. 

They all adopt the middle name ‘Danger’ so that they never forget what it is they’re fighting for, even though not all of them actually go out and do fighting because PLS they’re not all superhumans that are ripped. I can see Mike, Matt and Sam definitely being field people going out for most of the missions with maybe Chris? He does have talent with a shotgun as far as we know so he could be pretty useful for that. I think Em would be in the same situation but would only go out if she had to. I doubt Jess would want to get too invested but since these guys understand what she went through she’s still pretty close to them.
