Mean Poutine 718 Nelson Street Vancouver, BC
Food: ♥♥♥.5 Service: ♥♥ Value: ♥♥♥ Ambience: ♥♥ I think couples eventually become very in sync with each other after awhile. Beebs and I forgot to get our U-passes for October so we had to go downtown to pick them up at Robson Square. Since Beebs didn't have a lunch yet and I was hungry (my snack time) we decided to grab some poutine. I was hesitant when I first saw Mean Poutine. It was just a side street vendor and only a middle aged woman worked there. But as usual, my judgment of places are wrong. We just ordered the original. It was $6+ tax, the 'usual price' for poutine Beebs told me. The wait was quick..
I'll be honest. I don't really know how to judge poutine but darn, I thought it was awesome regardless. The fries were still crunchy and crisp (no soggy fries, please!). The gravy, oh goodness, the gravy was mouth-watering. It wasn't too salty which I love because I don't want to be chugging on bottles of water after. Oh and the cheese bits melted in the gravy making it the perfect gooey-ness. The green onions weren't overpowering and they added to the taste. A nice (chub) afternoon snack heh. This is the perfect place to go for those drunken nights too, it's opened to 4am! Or like Beebs and I, a delightfully warm snack for a chilly autumn afternoon. Enjoy!
